What this role is all about:

We are looking for a Sanitation Supervisor in La Crosse, WI.

  • Schedule: Monday – Friday, normal business hours
  • This person has direct reports on all 3 shifts and would support earlier mornings or later evenings as needed.

The Sanitation Supervisor is responsible for leading and managing the facility’s sanitation program across all three shifts. This role ensures the facility, equipment, and processes consistently meet company standards, customer expectations, and regulatory requirements related to sanitation and food safety. The Sanitation Supervisor provides direction to sanitation team members, drives accountability, and partners with Production Planning, Production, Quality, and Maintenance to ensure a safe, clean, and compliant work environment.

Job Duties:

  • Direct and oversee the sanitation function across all three shifts, ensuring consistent execution of sanitation programs and practices.
  • Manage and maintain the Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS), ensuring timely and complete execution of required cleaning activities.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, regulatory, and certification requirements (e.g., FDA, USDA, SQF, HACCP, GMP, OSHA).
  • Supervise, coach, and develop the sanitation team; establish clear performance expectations and hold employees accountable.
  • Partner with Production Planning, Production and Maintenance to schedule downtime, coordinate sanitation activities, and minimize disruption to operations.
  • Perform routine inspections to verify cleaning effectiveness and pre-operational readiness; collaborate with Production Planning to address any deficiencies.
  • Monitor and control sanitation supply and chemical usage; ensure proper handling, storage, and documentation in accordance with SDS requirements.
  • Ordering of cleaning supplies and chemicals
  • Investigate sanitation-related issues or non-conformances, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Maintain all sanitation records, logs, and documentation in compliance with company standards and audit requirements.
  • Foster a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and ownership within the sanitation team.
  • Lead or participate in cross-functional projects and initiatives to improve overall facility sanitation and operational performance.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for employee relations including work direction of employees, hiring, training, performance reviews, administering policies and procedures, disciplinary action, and compensation recommendations.
  • Direct implementation of departmental objectives, goals and policies.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Understand adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Safety Protocol:
  • Stop any observed unsafe acts and obey facility safety rules and procedures.
  • Correct or report any observed safety hazards.
  • Support safety policies and programs.

Qualifications:

Education Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Associate's Degree from a two-year college or technical school in a Science, Business, Operations Management or related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.

Experience Required:

  • Minimum three (3) years manufacturing experience required.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in a dairy and/or food production plant preferred.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
