As a key member of the Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO), this role is responsible for overseeing project cost control, schedule performance, document management, and process compliance. The Project Controller conducts detailed analyses to support strategic planning, budgeting, and forecasting for the successful completion of diverse projects including construction (electric/gas/power plants), Enterprise Technology (ET), and other initiatives as assigned. The position also manages long-range project planning to ensure that processes, tools, budgets, schedules, and resources are optimized for maximum efficiency and alignment with organizational goals.
- Develop and implement project control procedures to ensure scope, schedule, and cost objectives are met.
- Maintain and administer project control tools for all assigned EPMO projects, ensuring accurate and timely data across the department portfolio.
- Serve as system administrator for project control systems and tools, including development, maintenance, and support.
- Maintain a master list of all assigned EPMO projects and update project and portfolio plans regularly, work closely with Avista departments for planned outage scheduling and coordination of assets and work.
- Coordinate with Project Managers, engineers, leaders, foremen, and key stakeholders to track status and forecast future performance.
- Facilitate stakeholder meetings to communicate project risks, deviations, and recommend corrective actions as well as joint project prioritization efforts within EPMO and customer departments.
- Review results against schedules, budgets, and process adherence to identify variances and propose action plans; support project initiation activities, including scoping, schedule development, cost baselines, and document control.
- Prepare and distribute reports on budgets, actuals, risks, metrics, schedules, and resource loading.
- Collaborate with resource managers for capacity planning, WBS development, cost forecasting, and process audits.
- Support rate recovery filings and respond to related data requests; manage data collection and submission for Commission or regulatory requirements.
- May be required to assemble and lead a team of schedulers, document control specialists, and records specialists as needed and provide operational direction and feedback to project controls support roles.
- Coordinate and submit all Business Performance Team (BPT) requests and responses.
- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally or nationally accredited college or university in business, finance/accounting, project management or related discipline required
- Requires five plus years of relevant project management related experience (e.g. Project Controls, Project Coordinator, Project Manager, etc.) Of the five plus years required, three years preferred in construction or other technical project management experience
- Project management certification required (e.g.: Planning and Scheduling Professional (PSP), Scheduling Professional (PMI-SP), or Project Management Professional (PMP), etc.)
- Demonstrated experience with capital project delivery, financial forecasting/reporting, and project accounting required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas, and data analysis) and experience with project & portfolio management (PPM) software such as Clarity, Oracle Primavera, or equivalent.
- Effective and flexible written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create and interpret dashboards, graphics, and data visualizations.
- Effective analytical and problem-solving skills, process orientation and business savvy
- Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize a variety of tasks under strict deadlines and changing priorities
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate across multiple departments with key stakeholders, including engineering, construction, operations, project management, functional area managers, and leadership teams

Hiring Range: $96,517 to $126,439
Hybrid work options are available for this role. The successful candidate will be required to work at our Spokane, Washington headquarters at least 3 days per week including Mondays and Tuesdays with additional day(s) determined by the manager.

In compliance with state laws, we provide the full salary range for each position, along with the typical hiring range based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity.
