Position Summary:
The Systems Manager of Revenue Cycle Shared Services oversees daily operations of Cash Posting, Customer Service and Vendor Management across Bristol Health. This role ensures accurate payment posting, timely resolution of credit balances and refunds, high-quality customer service and revenue cycle vendors meet or exceed expectations. The manager also supports system development and process improvements across revenue cycle.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Lead daily operations for cash posting, customer service and self-pay collections.
  • Ensure accurate and timely posting of payments, reconciliation, and resolution of credit balances.
  • Maintain 100% balancing expectations in relation to system processes, manual processes, general ledger, cash responsibilities, end-of-day deposit composition, and daily reconciliation.
  • Interface with patients and other operational departments to investigate and expedite patient or outside agency complaints, either written or oral, arising from the billing and collection process.
  • Manage relationships with revenue cycle vendors, ensuring performance consistently meets or exceeds organizational expectations.
  • Oversee financial assistance processing, county applications, and indigent care.
  • Monitor KPIs including call volume, hold times, and recovery rates.
  • Supervise and support staff performance, training, and development.
  • Collaborate with internal departments and external partners to resolve issues and improve processes.
  • Participate in system upgrades, testing, and implementation of new tools.

Maintain a strong knowledge base of reimbursement procedures of third party and private insurance payers, state and federal regulations, and local regulations relating to insurance and private collections.

 

Qualifications


Educational / Minimum Requirements:

  • BA or BS, preferably in Business, Accounting, or Finance, or equivalent work experience 
  • Five (5) years’ experience in healthcare preferred, including significant experience specialized in cash handling, reconciliation, and cash management areas as identified above.
  • Three (3) years’ previous supervisory experience in healthcare preferred.
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations as they pertain to collection processes and procedures.

Bristol Hospital Mandated Educational Requirements:

General orientation at time of hire. Fire/Safety/Infection Control annually. 

Special Requirements:

Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and projects. Strong computer analytical skills with an aptitude for learning new software programs and the ability to assimilate changes. Outstanding supervisory and interpersonal skills.

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged sitting at a desk and/or computer terminal. Significant paperwork requiring extensive eye usage. Physically able to handle paperwork and patient filing. Vision and hearing corrected to normal. 

Work Environment:

Normal office conditions.

Cognitive Requirements:

Strong interpersonal skills; ability to deal effectively with physicians, clients, and other related professional personnel. Excellent mathematical and analytical skills; must be able to reconcile patient accounts and spreadsheets expediently. Detail oriented personality. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision.
