Position Summary:
Our dedicated Respiratory Therapists provide compassionate, expert care to adults and children with complex pulmonary needs including ventilator management, tracheostomy care, and pulmonary rehabilitation. You will work in a supportive, team-focused environment that values collaboration, professional growth and quality of life for every patient.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and treat patients with cardiopulmonary, musculoskeletal, and neurological impairments in accordance with the Connecticut Practice Act and licensure requirements.
- Assess and respond to each patient’s physiological, psychological, and age-related needs to provide safe, effective, and compassionate care.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and the interdisciplinary care team to develop individualized treatment goals with patients and families, following respiratory care standards, guidelines, and protocols.
- Plan, deliver, and adjust respiratory treatments using appropriate therapeutic modalities and interventions; provide patient and family education and participate in discharge planning.
- Manage time and patient workload effectively to meet department productivity standards while ensuring high-quality care.
- Document care and interactions accurately and promptly in the electronic medical record (EMR), including assessments, interventions, education, and billing information, in compliance with Joint Commission and regulatory standards.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with patients, families, and team members to support a positive, collaborative care environment and uphold Hospital for Special Care’s mission and values.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited school of Respiratory Care recognized by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
- Current NBRC credential (CRT or RRT)
- Licensed by the State of Connecticut as a Certified or Registered Respiratory Therapist
- Current BLS for Healthcare Providers (CPR) certification
- Preferred: Active member of the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC)
