The Account Executive is a strategic revenue generator and relationship manager for Houston Grand Opera, responsible for maximizing patron lifetime value through proactive account management, retention strategies, and new subscriber acquisition. This role combines front-line customer service excellence with consultative sales expertise to build and maintain a portfolio of subscriber accounts, ensuring sustained revenue growth and deepening patron engagement with HGO's artistic programming.
As a key contributor to HGO's earned revenue strategy, the Account Executive independently manages all aspects of their subscriber portfolio to achieve ambitious, data-driven individual and team revenue targets. They will utilize data-informed insights to guide personalized renewal campaigns, targeted upselling opportunities, and strategic outreach to prospective flex and full-season subscribers.
Additionally, they will provide personalized service and serve as trusted advisors to new and long-standing subscribers alike. Success in this role directly impacts organizational sustainability and audience development goals.

Key Responsibilities

Provide exceptional and seamless customer service across all patron touchpoints that reflects HGO’s commitment to excellence.

Independently manage all aspects of the subscriber portfolio, including personalized renewal campaigns, targeted upselling opportunities, and strategic outreach to prospective flex and full-season subscribers.

Leverage connections with the audience to create memorable experiences.

Assist patrons via various channels such as phone, web chat, e-mail, or in-person regarding ticket sales, ticket exchanges, and other general inquiries such as performance details, directions, parking, etc.

Ensure accurate processing and timely delivery of customer tickets.

Engage successfully in cross-selling, up-selling, and donation asks.

Staff and support Box Office operations or other guest service stations during performances.

Identification of individual giving prospects for referral to Philanthropy for further qualification.

Serve as a first-line resource for call escalations from Box Office Representatives.

Through relationship stewardship and consultative needs assessment, the Account Executive identifies opportunities to enhance patron experiences.

Achieve ambitious individual and team revenue targets and KPI’s including data-driven retention goals.

Take on special projects for the department as assigned.

Assist other HGO departments with various projects and events as needed.

Help with the setup and take-down of equipment, signs, and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

3+ years of direct work experience with demonstrated success in sales and revenue generation. Customer service experience is also required.

Knowledge of opera and arts preferred but not required.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for the arts and possess a superb sales aptitude with a service mindset that leverages a consultative selling ability, demonstrates comfort with revenue targets, and is resilient in the face of rejection. They will have excellent relationship management skills, be genuinely curious about people, be proactive in their communication style, and demonstrate high levels of empathy and emotional intelligence. They will also have strong organizational capabilities, including the ability to effectively manage a sizable portfolio of customers, be self-directed, and strategically prioritize competing priorities. Evening and weekend work is required as well as the ability to bend, stoop, sit, and sometimes lift up to 20lb.
