SUMMARY
Responsible for insuring the Turf and Dirt Tracks are properly maintained for horse racing and training.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Upkeep of the Race Track – Operate tractors on both tracks with specific equipment between daily races and as needed to prepare/insure safe conditions for the horses to use the tracks
- Operate company equipment including water truck and motor grader as needed to maintain the dirt track.
- Maintain the turf track with daily watering.
- Maintain mowing, weeding and hedge maintenance.
- Assist other Team Members with duties.
- All other duties as assigned.
REPORTING LINE
You will report directly to the Track Superintendent then to the Director of Maintenance.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Must have excellent communication skills, be polite, and present a neat appearance at all times.
- The ability to work with others as a team in an efficient manner.
- Ability to use all necessary tools and equipment for the task.
- Ability to recognize/remedy safety concerns and utilize all personal protective equipment as required.
- Time management & priority setting and work independently.
- Horse track equipment – motor grader, tractors, water trucks, mowing equipment, snow blowers, drag screens, floats, and others
- You must be at least 21 years old
- Obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license and the ability to be covered under Mountaineer Casino Insurance for driving our vehicles.
- You must be able to pass a background investigation and obtain and maintain a WV Racing License.
EDUCATIONAL AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or Equivalent.
REASONING ABILITY
The ability to trouble shoot and resolve issues.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- You will need to be able Sitting/Standing, Lifting, Kneeling, Bending, Walking/Stretching, Pushing/Pulling, Climbing/Reaching for extended periods of time and lift up to 50 lbs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Will be exposed to working in a noisy, smoke/secondary smoke environment and seasonal elements.
