Summary of Primary Functions: Manage portion of the process and quality improvement processes and cost reduction activities for a large Precast/BDS plant or the entire activity for a smaller plant.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: All employees are required to follow all Safety and Quality rules and processes to ensure a safe working environment, and the production of high-quality products.
Collaborate with management and supervision to identify, justify, and implement new and improved production methods to improve productivity and quality.
Projects can come from plant to plant comparisons, comparisons with other BDS manufacturers, capital equipment justification, or classical industrial engineering techniques of methods analysis, work simplification, materials handling, layout or value analysis.
Supervise hourly or non-exempt employees in standards maintenance and report preparation.
Track daily hours worked and help manage labor to reduce overtime costs.
Audit labor performance reports for identification of operational problems.
Review estimated labor for scheduled production and identify deficiencies.
Review scheduled work on a weekly basis and communicate labor budget to supervisors.
Assist in Post-Mortem meetings after producing a project to analyze actual costs versus estimate and devise plans to improve in future projects.
Supervise work measurement of manufacturing processes, both measurement of new processes or products of reviews of existing standards. Measurement may be done by Corporate field crew, management consultant or in-house personnel.
Coordinate with supervision and management to identify variation from standard, and correct substandard performance through project management or preparation of short interval schedules/work plans.
Keep estimators informed of the latest labor standards and labor performances.
Support capital equipment procurement by performing objective cost/benefit justification studies as required.
Develop and recommend annual labor and variable overhead budgets.
Job Specifications or Qualifications:
Education: College Degree (4 year): Industrial Engineering from an ABET accredited institution and successful completion of Tindall Training Program.
Experience: 3 - 5 (+) years: completion of Tindall Training program or 5 years equivalent experience.
