About the Department

Colonial Behavioral Health provides opportunities for recovery to individuals and their family members in the areas of mental illness, substance use disorder, and developmental disabilities. Colonial Behavioral Health serves the citizens of James City County, City of Poquoson, City of Williamsburg, and York County.

We are currently recruiting for a Capital Campaign Fundraiser position within our Special Projects program. This position will be responsible for all aspects of campaign planning and implementation while helping to shape the future of behavioral health services in our region.

The position is term-limited (estimated two to three years), offers meaningful community impact, and requires a professional who can balance strategic vision with tactical execution.

Position Duties

  • Develop and execute a detailed, multi-year capital campaign plan, including timelines, benchmarks, and goals.
  • Develop and manage a portfolio of prospective individual donors, with a focus on building long-term relationships.
  • Establish campaign committees and provide staff support to campaign volunteers, board members, and other ambassadors.
  • Coordinate with the grants team to ensure capital campaign efforts compliment government and foundation grant strategies.
  • Track and report campaign progress, donor activity, and fundraising metrics to the Executive Director and board.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Ability to develop and implement complex project plans in an effective and timely manner.
  • Ability to prepare and deliver clear, concise, high-level oral and written communication of complex matters in the form of recommendations, proposals, policies, procedures, reports, and other technical writing.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with executive leadership, CBH Board members and various internal and external stakeholders.  
  • Knowledge of behavioral health issues and the broader health and human services landscape.
  • Bachelor’s Degree and specialized relevant project-related training required.
  • Five years of experience in fundraising with a focus on capital campaign planning and execution required.
  • Valid Driver’s license and acceptable driving required.
  • Experience working with or for a government, quasi-governmental, or health related nonprofit agency preferred
