Online Writing Consultant bei Concordia University - Irvine Ca

Concordia University writing consultants provide students the support they need to develop writing and English language skills in order to become more independent, confident, and versatile writers. Consultants use best practices in writing pedagogy to work one-on-one with writers, helping them understand assignments, develop ideas, support arguments and claims, cite sources, and revise papers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to accomplish each of the below duties satisfactorily:

• Provide students with support to become proficient writers through synchronous and asynchronous feedback
• Respond promptly and appropriately using established OWL protocol
• Record data for sessions
• Work with the OWL Director and other OWL staff members to identify writing needs for faculty and students and align services accordingly
• Collaborate, as needed, in the coordination of independent or collaborative events, programs, or initiatives designed to promote the OWL and support students
• Remain current on writing center best practices and resources

Education and/or Experience and Minimum Qualifications:

Experience necessary includes knowledge of best practices for teaching writing, computer literacy, and potential for or evidence of excellence in teaching or tutoring undergraduate and/or graduate students.

Fluency in conversational Spanish is preferred to effectively support Spanish-speaking students. Written or academic Spanish proficiency is not required.

Minimum degree required: Bachelor's Degree Preferred degree: M.A., M.F.A., or PhD. in Rhetoric and Composition, Writing, or a related field.

Part-time, Non-Exempt

$22.50/hr
