About Primary
Primary is a seed-stage venture capital firm dedicated to delivering exceptional support to the founders of transformational businesses. With over $1B under management and the largest portfolio impact team of any seed investor, Primary has helped its companies achieve an industry-best seed-to-A graduation rate.
Primary is betting on AI to redefine what’s possible at a venture fund - from research, execution, portfolio support, sourcing and more. We are currently building LabsOS, a system of agents and tools to accelerate incubation and investing. We are scaling the team to help create Primary’s internal AI operating system, as a source of alpha in everything we do.
About the Role
We’re looking for an AI Operations Associate to embed within Primary’s daily operations and keep LabsOS running smoothly. This is a hands-on, high-context role that sits at the intersection of venture, product, and AI. You’ll execute, market, and improve LabsOS. In more detail, you’ll create the outputs, build feedback loops, fine tune workflows, and have an active input into the roadmap.
The AI Operations Associate will work directly with the Labs team, investment partners, Impact team and portfolio companies to ensure LabsOS is driving efficiency and insight across the firm and beyond. This is an exceptional opportunity to operate inside the engine room of a modern VC firm and redefine what’s possible with AI augmentation.
What You’ll Do
Embed within Primary workflows to ensure LabsOS is operationally tight and delivering consistent output quality
Manage requests, use our agents, deliver results to our users
Validate and QA agent outputs, flagging issues and opportunities for improvement
Partner with to fine-tune workflows, debug minor issues, and suggest optimizations
Serve as the connective tissue between partners, users, and the LabsOS technical team — capturing feedback and translating it into actionable changes
Track performance metrics and recommend process improvements to increase throughput and accuracy
Help design and test new workflows as LabsOS expands across investment, research, and incubation
About You
Experience: 1–3 years of experience in startup positions such as product, product operations, GTM engineering OR consulting
Technical Fluency: Comfortable with basic Python concepts or eager to learn — you can read scripts, debug small issues, and communicate effectively with engineers
Independent: thrives in fast-moving, high-context environments
Early builder mentality: curious, resourceful, and unafraid to experiment or work directly with senior stakeholders
Location: Must be based in New York City and able to work from the Primary office at least three days per week
Note from Tanmaye, who is leading LabsOS:
I’ve been building this for the last six months. What I’m really looking for is deep collaboration with this person, to not only build LabsOS, but help discover how venture capital will evolve and how businesses will be built in the coming decade. If these problems are interesting to you, I encourage you to apply.
