Job Description Summary:   Minimum starting salary $17.50 / hour

The Mobile Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), as directed by the physician(s), advanced practitioner(s) and/or RN/LPN(s), performs patient care activities for office patients and related non-professional services necessary in caring for the personal needs and comfort of patients. RMA provides services to individuals impacted by a variety of behavioral health (addiction/substance use and mental health) issues, recognizing that the individuals we serve often times have experienced trauma that affects their development and adjustment.  They will be trained in trauma-informed care and will work to help provide services in an environment that is sensitive and responsive which will prevent victimization, abuse, or trauma as a result of the care received. The RMA will report to the Nurse Coordinator of Adult Psychiatric Practices. In the mobile mental health unit setting, the RMA supports care delivery in rural and underserved areas, often in non-traditional environments such as homes, schools, and community centers. The role requires adaptability, comfort with mobile technology, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to ensure continuity of care.

Education:  

  • High School diploma or equivalent.

Licenses and Certifications:  

  • Certification as a Registered/Certified Medical Assistant in the state of Missouri. 

 

 Responsibilities: 

  • The RMA meets the total clinical needs of the practice patients as determined by the Psychiatrist or Advance Practice Nurse in consultation with or as ordered by the psychiatrist physician. 

  • Reports same to the Nurse Coordinator of Adult Psychiatric Practices but may also report to the Physician or Advance Practice Nurse. 

  • The RMA performs other duties as assigned or directed by the Nurse Coordinator of Adult Psychiatric Practices, doctor assigned to or the APN. 

  • The RMA utilizes proper communication with higher level nursing and/or physician; ongoing maintenance of appropriate medications, maintaining logs for medication samples and other logs as deemed necessary through clinic 

  • The RMA facilitates efficient transition of patients throughout the office visit. Efficient identification of patient problems; communication of pertinent data to physician/provider; accurate chart/charge preparation and collection of pertinent data. 

  • The RMA makes appropriate referrals, demonstrates proper use of standing orders, and ensures appropriate, accurate, and timely documentation in electronic health records. 

  • The RMA actively engages patients and family and assists in the education of patient’s plan of care. 

  • Respond to patient needs in non-traditional settings such as homes, schools, and community centers. 

  • Engage patients and families in trauma-informed care practices, promoting recovery and resilience. 

  • Maintain medication logs and sample inventories in compliance with mobile clinic protocols. 

  • Ensure safe and efficient patient transitions within the mobile unit, including coordination with drivers and other staff. 

  • Assist with telehealth sessions and mobile documentation using digital tools and platforms. 

  • Support psychiatric and Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) services in mobile settings, including rural outreach locations. 

  • Experience supporting psychiatric and substance use disorder services in community-based settings. 

  • Ability to adapt to diverse environments including rural areas, schools, homes, and public spaces. 

  • Comfortable working in a mobile clinic equipped with telehealth and digital documentation tools. 

  •  Coordinates with the mobile team to manage supplies, maintain safety protocols, and support patient transitions in and out of the mobile unit. 

  •  The RMA ensures accurate mobile documentation using secure digital platforms and supports remote communication with providers.  In mobile settings, this includes preparing the clinical space within the unit, ensuring equipment is operational, and assisting with telehealth sessions.   

  • Perform all other duties as assigned.  

Physical Requirements:  

  • Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.  

  • TB test upon hire.
