POSITION: EMERGING EXECUTIVE LEADERS & ASPIRING SUPERINTENDENT’S ACADEMY APPLICATION (2025-2026)

 

LOCATION: TBD

 

ACADEMY SUMMARY: The Emerging Executive Leaders & Aspiring Superintendent’s Academy engages participants in topics aligned with the following broad topics: Framing the Superintendency: Vision, Change, and Ethical Purpose, – Governance, Politics, Communications, and Community Engagement, Strategic Systems Leadership: Finance, Operations, & Continuous Improvement, and Hot Topics. This academy seeks to identify, cultivate, and prepare the next generation of executive-level leaders and future superintendents within Calvert County Public Schools and the surrounding region. Participants will complete a capstone project focused on one real or simulated system challenge.

 

A high-level overview of the content is addressed below:

  • Understand the evolving role of the superintendent as moral and instructional leader.
  • Analyze case studies of district transformation.
  • Develop a personal leadership identity statement
  • Clarify governance structures and superintendent–board roles.
  • Build political acumen and stakeholder communication skills.
  • Explore real-world board relations and community engagement strategies.
  • Link fiscal strategy to instructional priorities.
  • Understand the superintendent’s role in operations and performance management.
  • Practice data-driven decision-making.
  • Engage in discussion around emerging and urgent leadership issues.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

 

  1. Serving as a current principal and district-level administrators with demonstrated leadership potential.

(Wednesday) December 17, 2025 – In Person – MPR

(Thursday) January 15, 2026 – Virtual

(Thursday) February 12, 2026 – In Person – CHS Library

(Thursday) March 12, 2026 – Virtual

Application Requirements

 

  1. Must submit a current resume outlining specific leadership experiences
  2. Must submit Statement of Interest (300–500 words) describing leadership goals and how participation supports professional growth priorities.
  3. Must commit to the entire academy.

Applicants should also include contact information for organizations in which you have volunteered, coached, mentor, tutored or otherwise had direct contact with minors.
