Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Unified Communications (UC) Engineer to design, implement, secure, and support enterprise-grade voice and collaboration systems across geographically dispersed environments. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience managing large-scale Cisco Unified Communications infrastructures, ensuring secure, reliable, and high-performing voice and video services in support of mission-critical operations for federal and defense customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide engineering and administrative support for Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM), Unity Connection, Expressways, Jabber, and related platforms across NIPR/SIPR and VoSIP networks.
- Monitor, maintain, and optimize UC systems for availability, performance, and reliability using tools such as RTMT and SolarWinds.
- Perform upgrades, migrations, and patching of UC infrastructure, including Cisco UCS servers, VG450 gateways, and VMware virtualized environments.
- Apply DISA STIGs, remediate ACAS scan findings, and maintain compliance with DoD cybersecurity standards.
- Support provisioning, deployment, and configuration of telephony devices, including developing BAT files, custom templates, and automated workflows.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation including system design guides, installation manuals, service policies, and operational procedures.
- Collaborate with network, cybersecurity, and infrastructure teams to troubleshoot and resolve complex UC issues and escalate support needs as appropriate.
- Conduct site surveys, develop as-built documentation, and recommend design changes to improve performance, scalability, and security.
- Support users and stakeholders through Tier II/III troubleshooting, training, and end-user documentation.
- Participate in planning and deployment of new UC services and technologies and contribute to strategic roadmap development.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience administering and engineering Cisco Unified Communications platforms in enterprise or DoD environments.
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
- Hands-on experience with CUCM, Unity Connection, Expressways, SIP, QoS, and VG series gateways.
- Experience upgrading and migrating Cisco UC systems, including UCS servers and virtualized environments (VMware ESXi).
- Strong understanding of DISA STIG compliance, IA controls, and security best practices in DoD networks.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex UC and collaboration issues in geographically distributed networks.
- Familiarity with network monitoring tools such as RTMT and SolarWinds.
- Strong technical documentation skills.
Clearance
- Active DoD Secret clearance required upon start.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Engineering, or a related field.
- Advanced Cisco certifications (CCNP).
- Experience supporting VoSIP environments or SIPRNet voice deployments.
- Experience with Tandberg video conferencing systems and enterprise video deployments.
Work Location
- Hybrid: onsite required in Falls Church, VA three (3) days per week, with the option to work remotely two (2) days per week
Compensation
- Salary based on senior-level experience and relevant qualifications: $120,000 - $130,000
