Arclin is currently looking for a Code Compliance Engineer, Reporting to the Senior Director of Technology. This role will focus on ensuring Arclin products acquire and then maintain building code compliance. The role will help to educate the building products community while also supporting architects, engineers and contractors that are interested in using Arclin products in their projects. Finally, the person that holds this role will use their skills and expertise to advance building science through participation in the code and standard writing process.

Code Compliance Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Support Arclin R&T and business development teams to obtain and maintain building code acceptance of new and existing products being sold by Arclin into residential, multi-family and commercial building products sector.
  • Maintain and update Evaluation Services Reports (ESR) and Evaluation Services Listings (ESL) in coordination with Arclin R&T and business development teams, in order to grow market share and respond to customer requests.
  • Understand the needs of architects, engineers, contractors, and project owners to develop project specific engineering judgments (EJ)
  • Maintain and grow relationships with third party accreditation and certification organizations  such as, but not limited to, Under Righters Laboratory (UL), International Code Council (ICC), CalFire, American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) and their international equivalencies
  • Work with third party consultants to understand the building code in various jurisdictions and ensure compliance of Arclin products to it
  • Maintain an understanding of the competitive landscape as it relates to code compliance and products competing with Arclin market offerings
  • Contribute to the code and standard writing process by participating in the consensuses-based code and standard development process. The role will participate in ASTM as well as ICC committees and sub- committees
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key local building code enforcement officials
  • Develop and deliver continues education course for architects that are accredited by AIA

Code Compliance Engineer Job Requirements:

  • A degree in a building product related field
    • A PE in a related field such as structural engineering is preferred
  • Experience with building products that provide protection against, fire, water and thermal transfer is required
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing to different audiences is a must
  • An excellent track record of time management and an attention to detail
  • A demonstrated track record or working with code writing bodies is required
  • Prior experience with developing and delivering continues education courses is preferred
  • Prior experience with the consensus code and standard development process is preferred
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
