Fairport Tunnelling Technologies (FTT) became a newly established division of Fairport Engineering Limited in 2021. Fairport Engineering Limited have now been acquired by pxGroup and as a result FTT has now become pxFairport.


We are an Engineering and Projects Delivery business specialising in the design, installation, management and consultancy of bulk material handling systems across a number of sectors, with specific expertise in tunnelling, aggregates and ports. With long standing industry expertise, our recent history includes successfully delivering projects in the UK, Europe and Asian markets.

The Opportunity
We are now recruiting for a Site Manager. This role will involve European travel and so the ability and willingness to travel is essential.

The Site Manager is responsible for the oversite of activities across multiple disciplines which primarily include mechanical and structural assembly, electrical installation and commissioning and Civil construction and finishing site teams.

This includes planning for mobilisation, coordination of contractor and staff site inductions and where required, ensuring necessary welfare, documentation and plant are in place to ensure site works commence on time and are adequately resourced in line with project schedules, budgets, and deliverables.  

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to;
  • Oversite across multiple disciplines which primarily include mechanical and structural assembly, electrical installation and commissioning, and civil construction and finishing site teams. 
  • Planning for mobilization
  • Coordination of contractor and staff site inductions. 
  • Ensure necessary welfare and documentation are in place to allow for site works to commence on time, and are adequately resourced in line with project schedules, budgets and deliverables.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise


  • HNC qualified in a technical or engineering discipline.
  • UK Drivers licence.
  • Formal Site Management qualification (CSCS Black or equivalent).
  • Site Management Safey Training Scheme (SMSTS) qualification.
  • Knowledge of Construction Methods and Technology.
  • Proven experience as a Site Manager in the construction industry.
  • Working understanding of steel construction, conveyor belts and materials handling systems, lifting operations, reviewing construction documentation, CDM Regulations
