Job Purpose:
To supervise the daily tasks performed by the housekeeping staff, necessary to ensure clean, safe, sanitary, and attractive guest rooms, public spaces and employee areas.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform opening and closing duties of the Housekeeping Department including room assignments and linen distribution to each building.
- Designate daily tasks for the houseperson and follow up periodically throughout the day to ensure duties are performed.
- Keep in constant contact with the Front Desk with updated room status to ensure rooms are available for guests before the 3:00pm check in time.
- Keep updated records of the Green Choice rooms and adjust room assignments as necessary.
- Quality control under the supervision of the Housekeeping Manager or General Manager.
- Personally, inspect guest rooms and complete “daily room inspection sheets” for each housekeeper to ensure that cleanliness standards and job performance levels are being maintained, including heavy duty work.
- Maintain communications with the Front Desk for special needs and additional rooms sold.
- Participate in the training of all new and present team members as needed, determined by the Housekeeping Manager or General Manager.
- Ensure the safety, security and cleanliness of all supply areas and determine that these areas are properly filled and maintained, including rotation of terry and linen.
- Notify the Housekeeping Manager when cleaning supplies, room amenities, etc need to be ordered.
- Assist in keeping public spaces clean, safe and secure and when needed, complete routine cleaning of guest rooms.
- Complete routine weekly inspection and maintenance of all fire safety stairs, lights and equipment, including smoke detectors, in all GPI facilities as well as guest rooms.
- Keep record of all checks and maintenance performed and report any problems to the Housekeeping Manager.
- Assist with all responsibilities and duties in the Housekeeping Managers absence.
- Clean guest rooms as needed
- Perform any other tasks as directed by the Housekeeping Manager, General Manager or other Peddler’s Village Management.
Skills/Qualifications
- 2-3 years hotel housekeeping experience or similar role
- Ability to use cleaning equipment and products
- Excellent organizational and team management skills
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends & holidays
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multi-task
- Strong attention to detail required
- Ability to supervise a diverse staff to include training, motivating and communicating with staff
- Ability to work independently and in a team

Work environment: This job requires walking on our 42-acre campus, which would expose the employee to the prevailing weather conditions. Noise level is usually minimal.
