Description

Position Overview:

Inspire Veterinary Partners is launching a state-licensed veterinary pharmacy in the Orlando area, and we are looking for a Florida-licensed Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) who is passionate about veterinary medicine and excellence in pharmacy operations. This is a closed-door community pharmacy serving both Inspire Veterinary hospitals in Floridaand pet owners statewide through prescription delivery. We also ship OTC and wellness products across the U.S. 


This is a unique opportunity to help build a pharmacy program from the ground up alongside a collaborative, mission-driven veterinary organization. You’ll be supported by a Pharmacy Technician Lead and have the ability to shape processes, quality, and culture. 


Responsibilities & Duties 

  • Serve as Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) for a Florida-licensed veterinary pharmacy 
  • Ensure full compliance with Florida Board of Pharmacy (BOP), DEA regulations, and state/federal dispensing laws 
  • Review, verify, and dispense veterinary prescriptions with accuracy and clinical integrity 
  • Oversee prescription processing workflows and quality assurance for mail-order operations 
  • Maintain required records, logs, inventories, and reports per regulatory standards 
  • Develop and enforce SOPs for safe, compliant, and efficient pharmacy operations 
  • Provide clinical guidance on veterinary pharmaceuticals and dosing 
  • Oversee controlled substance storage, reporting, and compliance 
  • Lead, mentor, and supervise pharmacy support team members 
  • Coordinate pharmacy fulfillment for Inspire Veterinary hospitals in Florida 
  • Support product expansion, vendor relationships, and formulary management 
  • Prepare for and lead inspections and audits 
  • Deliver exceptional service to veterinarians, clients, and internal partners 
  • Uphold a culture of ethics, safety, accuracy, and continuous improvement 
  • Ensure proper handling and labeling of veterinary-specific medications, including species-specific dosing and contraindications 
  • Collaborate with veterinary professionals to optimize therapeutic outcomes and ensure safe medication use in animals 
  • Monitor adverse drug reactions and report veterinary pharmacovigilance data as required 
  • Stay current with veterinary pharmacology developments, compounding standards, and emerging therapies 
  • Train pharmacy staff on veterinary-specific protocols, terminology, and client communication 
  • Participate in cross-functional initiatives to improve veterinary care delivery and pharmacy integration 
  • This role must meet all responsibilities of a Pharmacist in Charge as defined by the Florida Board of Pharmacy.

  • Compensation is negotiable based on credentials and experience. The actual rate offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including skills, qualifications and experience.

Requirements
  • Active Florida Pharmacist license in good standing (RPh or PharmD) 
  • Eligible to serve as Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) in Florida 
  • Experience in retail, mail-order, compounding, or clinical pharmacy 
  • Knowledge of pharmacy law, controlled substance regulations, and compliance 
  • Passion for building pharmacy systems and SOPs 
  • Strong leadership and communication skills 
  • Veterinary experience/exposure is a plus (but not required, training provided) 
  • High integrity, professional accountability, and commitment to safety 
  • Familiarity with veterinary pharmacology, species-specific dosing, and compounding for animals 
  • Experience with veterinary software systems or willingness to learn 
  • Ability to interpret veterinary prescriptions and collaborate with DVMs 
  • Commitment to continuing education in veterinary pharmacy
