You will:
For your primary sensor modalities (Radar and/or Lidar):
- Select and evaluate sensors for future platforms.
- Collaborate with suppliers to understand roadmaps, emerging technologies, resolve technical issues, and source sensors.
- Manage all aspects of sensor integration and configuration.
- Characterize and evaluate sensor performance, developing strategies for improving accuracy, reliability, and durability.
- Ensure successful integration of sensors within the autonomous vehicle system through cross-organizational collaboration.
- Build test assets for sensor evaluation, characterization, and validation.
- Conduct field testing, data collection, and data analysis, documenting and reporting results.
Across the sensors team:
- Provide support for other sensor modalities and engineers as needed.
- Collaborate on shared team tooling, infrastructure, and test assets.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor or Master in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mechatronics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of related hands-on experience with Lidar and/or Radar, preferably in autonomous vehicles or robotics. - - Experience with Cameras, GNSS, and/or IMU is a plus.
- Strong practical experience with automotive sensors.
- Proficiency in sensor data acquisition, processing, and analysis techniques.
- Experience with signal processing, statistics, and machine learning algorithms.
- Proficiency in Python for data analysis and visualization.
- Strong problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Open-minded and collaborative team player with a willingness to assist others.
- Passionate about self-driving technologies, tackling complex problems, and creating innovative solutions.

- Flexible, but job duties require hands-on work with Sensors in the SF office.
- Estimated minimum in-office time is 60%.
The US yearly salary range for this role is: $155,000 - $210,000 USD in addition to competitive perks & benefits. Waabi (US) Inc.’s yearly salary ranges are determined based on several factors in accordance with the Company’s compensation practices. The salary base range is reflective of the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Note: The Company provides additional compensation for employees in this role, including equity incentive awards and an annual performance bonus.
