RN – Medical-Surgical Travel Position
Location: Plano, TX
Job Type: Travel Contract
Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: 3x12 Nights
Pay: $1,686.60/Week (plus $2,000 completion bonus per contract, up to $6,000 after three contracts)
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Ortho Trauma Specialty Unit in Plano, TX. This 36-bed unit cares for a diverse population of orthopedic and trauma patients requiring specialized post-surgical and non-surgical care.
The ideal candidate will have strong med-surg skills, experience with orthopedic and trauma patients, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-centered environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct and comprehensive nursing care to patients with orthopedic, trauma, and post-surgical conditions.
Administer medications and IV infusions including Heparin and Protonix drips.
Monitor telemetry and respond appropriately to cardiac rhythm changes.
Collaborate with physicians, physical therapists, and case management teams to coordinate care.
Maintain accurate documentation in Meditech EMR.
Participate in daily huddles and maintain consistent communication with the interdisciplinary team.
Float as needed to other Medical-Surgical units within the facility.
Qualifications
License:
Current Texas RN License or Compact State License
Experience:
Minimum 1 year of recent Med-Surg experience required
Ortho and/or trauma experience preferred
Certifications (AHA only):
BLS
ACLS
Education:
Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE-accredited nursing program
