POSITION:    Teacher Assistant at Kenowa Hills Learning Center: Toddler and Preschool-Age

LOCATION:    Kenowa Hills Early Childhood Center

SCHEDULE:    35-38 Hours/Week.  Center is open 6:30 AM to 6 PM. 

QUALIFICATIONS and DUTIES: 

  • Childcare experience preferred
  • Ability to work flexible hours if needed
  • Successful experience working with toddler and young preschool-age children preferred
  • Child supervision, interacting with children and monitoring play between children
  • Ability to use appropriate tones and language with children and ability to be caring and nurturing to all children
  • Establish and maintain a daily routine suitable for the children’s needs, adjusting as needed
  • Assist lead teacher in planning and implementing lesson plans.
  • Assisting with large and small group activities based on the children’s cognitive abilities
  • Assisting with daily learning centers to incorporate math, sensory (science), language arts, large and fine motor activities.
  • Maintains classroom communication and standards in the absence of the lead teacher.
  • Assisting the lead teacher with input on the evaluation of the classroom program needs and childassessments
  • Ability to communicate effectively and develop positive relationships with parents, students and staff
  • Knowledge of and compliance with state and federal rules and regulations, as well as program rules
  • Responsible for daily, weekly and monthly cleaning tasks
  • Snack preparation and cleanup tasks
  • Attend monthly staff meetings and other necessary training sessions
  • Must be very punctual, and professional in appearance and demeanor
  • Administer student medications and maintain medication records as
  • An excellent attendance history is required

Note to New Employees: Pursuant to PA 131, the selected candidate must receive clearance from the Michigan State Police Department with livescan fingerprinting prior to the start of employment. The candidate is responsible for the background check fee.

 

Per state regulations2nd set of live scan fingerprinting must be done to comply with Michigan LARA regulations for early childcare centers.  These prints will be reimbursed after 90 days of employment. 

TB testing must also be completed before employment can begin. If you have not been tested in the previous two years, the district will cover the cost of testing.
