SUMMARY OF POSITION:


The Environmental, Health & Safety (“EH&S”) Specialist collaborates with the EH&S department and leadership teams to develop, implement, and support safety and health procedures, policies, and training to assure compliance with governmental regulations. Conducts audits, inspections, safety training, and develops, prioritizes, and implements EH&S projects to protect people, products, and the environment from exposure to injury, risk, or economic loss.

 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Foster a proactive safety culture across all organizational levels, emphasizing active employee participation.
  • Identify and report unsafe conditions to relevant personnel and EH&S leadership for timely resolution.
  • Contribute to the creation and refinement of safety procedures and training documentation.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in EH&S compliance, risk mitigation, hazardous waste management, industrial hygiene, safety, and ergonomics.
  • Works in tandem with Operations Leadership to determine the existence of possible EH&S hazards and assists in taking steps to correct them.
  • Draft comprehensive reports detailing inspection findings, incident investigations, and employee safety concerns.
  • Support adherence to the Illness and Injury Prevention Plan across all operational areas.
  • Lead and document EH&S audits across Arizona facilities to identify hazards, mitigate risks, and ensure compliance with internal safety standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Actively support the ongoing operation of Site Safety Committee meetings and follow through on action items at designated Arizona FMI locations.
  • Engage in regulatory meetings with agencies such as OSHA, EPA, DOT, FDA, and DTSC.
  • Provide support during regulatory inspections, investigations, and product recalls.
  • Manage EH&S documentation, including hazardous waste manifests and audit records, in alignment with ISO standards.
  • Ensure accuracy and currency of chemical inventories, Safety Data Sheets, and site emergency response plans.
  • Participate actively in ISO certification and re-certification efforts for Arizona facilities.
  • Serve as a committed member of the First Aid/CPR Responder and Emergency Response Team.
  • Conduct thorough root cause analyses for all workplace injuries and incidents.
  • Adhere to all applicable EH&S laws, regulations, company policies, and recognized safe work practices.
  • Generate compliance reports as required. Update documents to remain current with the latest requirements and legislation.
  • Support site-level Environmental, Health, Safety, and Sustainability initiatives and ensure compliance with ISO 14001/45001 standards.

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Associates degree (bachelor’s degree preferred) or equivalent preferably in Safety & Health Management or engineering.
  • 3-5 years of related health and safety; manufacturing & general industry experience preferred.
  • Haz Waste CFR49 Manifest and Control
  • Working knowledge of ISO 14001 and 45001 Standards and processes preferred.
  • Subject Matter Technician knowledge of 29 CFR 1910 (Occupational Safety and Health Standards).
  • Solid knowledge of processes of hazardous waste for large or small quantity generators in the State of Arizona
  • Current FA/CPR/AED first responder training preferred
  • Ability to communicate clearly both in written and verbal formats
  • Ability to manage multiple, competing priorities and ensure that plans, guidance, and advice is accurate, timely and effective.
  • Proficient in Microsoft suite.
