The Burlington School District is seeking a dynamic and skilled Health Sciences Academy Instructor at Burlington Technical Center to deliver high-quality, proficiency-based instruction in the field of Health Sciences. This full-time position, serving as a leave replacement, involves assessing and supporting student progress, fostering a culturally responsive and effective learning environment, and collaborating with healthcare professionals to enrich instruction. The instructor will work closely with the existing Health Sciences teacher to ensure continuity and excellence in the program.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

This is a co-teaching position. The candidate must be willing to work as part of a team, have high attention to detail and be a skilled communicator.
- Facilitate, coordinate, and deliver a rigourous Health Science education curriculum with career-related instruction; assess and provide differentiation (including industry related hands-on laboratory activities) to assure student progress while maintaining a learning environment.
- Provide Dual Enrollment course options for students in partnership with Community College of Vermont and Vermont Technical College, or others (this is embedded in the class).
- Provide assistance with students Personalized Learning Plans
- Establishes and maintains industry relationships to promote/ encourage opportunities for students for experiential learning
- Demonstrates all teacher responsibilities; attendance, grading, data collection and analysis, course planning, in a timely manner.
- Participates in the Comprehensive Local Needs Assessment every two years as part of the Perkins V funding
- Ability to use technology in multiple platforms; schoology, canvas, power school, Google,
- Works with the BTC student services team to provide additional support as needed to students.
- Adheres to all Federal and State laws in relation to FERPA, Confidentiality, HIPA, Hazing, Harassment and Bullying as a mandated reporter.
- Possesses the physical strength, mobility, dexterity, stamina, and acuity to perform job responsibilities.
- Maintain healthcare certifications in the current field and the ability to stay current in the healthcare industry and related topics.
- And any other job duties assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors Degree minimum (Masters Degree Preferred) in Healthcare field
- 5 Years minimum work experience in healthcare field
- Ability to teach college level anatomy and physiology-related content, medical terminology, and lifespan development

EMPLOYMENT TERMS:
- SALARY: Long Term Subs (1st 30 days): $20.00 per hour for 7.75 daily hours
Long Term Subs (Day 31+): $36.96 per hour for 7.75 daily hours - CONTRACT TERM: (Anticipated) October 27th, 2025 - December 22nd, 2025
