Key Responsibilities
- Review and analyze existing PeopleSoft Campus Solutions COBOL programs (delivered and customized), including process scheduler jobs such as SRPCAARP, SRPCASAR, and related modules.
- Document current program logic, data flows, and dependencies between COBOL, SQR, and Application Engine processes.
- Collaborate with business analysts to confirm functional equivalence of new Python implementations.
- Design and prototype Python equivalents of COBOL routines, focusing on modularity, maintainability, and performance.
- Interface with PeopleSoft Process Scheduler and Oracle database to validate end-to-end data integrity.
- Support code reviews, unit testing, and transition of converted components into production.
- Provide mentoring and knowledge transfer to internal staff on COBOL structure and modernization practices.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience developing or maintaining COBOL programs in PeopleSoft Campus Solutions or PeopleSoft HCM/Finance environments.
- Deep understanding of PeopleSoft Process Scheduler, COBOL build/runtime environment (Micro Focus or IBM Enterprise COBOL), and Oracle SQL.
- Proven ability to analyze and document large procedural codebases.
- Hands-on experience with Python (preferably for data transformation or service orchestration).
- Strong grasp of relational data structures and set-based logic used in Campus Solutions.
- Experience using Git, JIRA, or equivalent modern development toolchains.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with COBOL-to-modern language migrations (Python, Java, or C#).
- Familiarity with PeopleSoft Application Engine, SQR, and PL/SQL.
- Understanding of REST APIs and data services in higher education contexts.
- Prior work in Academic Advisement, Student Records, or Financial Aid modules.
- Strong documentation and communication skills; ability to work collaboratively with non-technical stakeholders.
