Instructor, Emergency Medical Management

Essential Functions:

• Per Article 7.0 in the OFA contract 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• A thorough knowledge of principles of Emergency Medicine to an extent where the candidate would be comfortable teaching all levels of Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).

• Familiarity with appropriate instruction and course management software.

• In depth knowledge of National and State scope of practice for all levels of EMT

• In depth knowledge of all Ohio Revised Code (ORC) and Ohio Administrative Code (OAC) as it relates to Emergency Medical Service in regard to education

• In depth knowledge of guidelines set by the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the EMS Professions

• Knowledge of creating Continuing Education courses for EMS professionals

• Ability to create simulations and appropriate lab experience for students

Minimum Requirements:

• HS diploma or GED

• Minimum 2 years of teaching initial Paramedic education

• Minimum of 5 years as an Ohio Paramedic with no discipline issues from the Ohio Department of Public Safety

​Required state, federal, or professional licenses, certifications, or certificates:

• Current, active Ohio Paramedic certification in good standing

• Current and active Fire and Emergency Services Instructor level II in good standing: FESI-II

• ACLS Provider (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)

• Basic Life Support (BLS CPR) - Provider

• Current, unrestricted driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications:

• 5 years of teaching initial Paramedic education

• The last 10 years as a certified, Ohio Paramedic with no discipline from Ohio Department of Public Safety
