About the Role
At Marshmallow, we’re on a mission to make insurance more accessible, fair, and stress-free. As a Technical Claims Handler, you’ll be part of a supportive, ambitious team that helps customers through one of the most important parts of their journey — their claim.
You’ll take ownership of your own portfolio, guiding customers with empathy and clarity while ensuring claims are handled quickly and accurately. You’ll also play a key role in managing recoveries on non-fault claims before litigation, and you’ll bring a strong understanding of AD (Accidental Damage) processes to help achieve the best outcomes for our customers and for Marshmallow.
What You’ll Be Doing
Managing your own portfolio of motor claims from start to finish, ensuring each one progresses smoothly and efficiently;
Handling recoveries on non-fault claims pre-litigation, including negotiating with third parties and insurers to recover costs effectively;
Applying good knowledge of AD processes to assess claims, instruct services, and make fair decisions;
Keeping accurate and detailed records throughout each stage of the claim;
Collaborating with internal teams to keep everyone informed and aligned;
Raising and processing payments accurately, ensuring all financial details are correct;
Providing clear, proactive, and empathetic communication to customers throughout their journey.

What We’re Looking For
Good knowledge of AD (Accidental Damage) and Recovery processes, including handling recoveries on non-fault claims pre-litigation;
Excellent attention to detail and time-management skills;
Strong communication skills with the ability to build rapport and manage relationships effectively;
A proactive, solutions-focused mindset;
A genuine desire to grow, develop, and make an impact within a forward-thinking company

Our process
We break it up into 3 stages:
A video interview with someone from our Talent Acquisition Team (30 mins)
A skill-based Case Study interview where you will also discuss your previous experience with two members of our Claims team (1 hour)
A culture interview to check that your work style fits our processes and values (1 hour)
We’ll let you know if you’re invited to an interview or not. But, as a small team with a lot of applications to consider, we can’t give individual feedback on each application
Background checks
To meet our regulatory obligations as an FCA-authorised financial services company, we need to do some background checks on all new hires. That means carrying out a DBS check and making sure you don't have any live criminal proceedings. Feel free to ask our Talent Acquisition team if you have any questions about this!
