Pay Range: $19 - $22.75

JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Summary 

The Material Handling Specialist plays a crucial role in facilitating the smooth flow of materials and information within the Assembly department. This individual coordinates closely with various departments to ensure parts are available, tracked, and delivered in a timely manner. The role requires a blend of administrative precision, strong communication, and hands-on support to keep production moving efficiently and accurately.

 

Key Responsibilities

  1. Serve as the primary contact for all Assembly material needs, ensuring clear communication between departments.
  2. Locate, track, and deliver parts to Assembly workstations based on daily production priorities.
  3. Research and follow up on missing or delayed parts, coordinating with Purchasing and Warehouse as needed.
  4. Maintain detailed records of part status, movement, and inventory adjustments.
  5. Support Assembly leaders with updates on part availability, substitutions, and delivery timing.
  6. Use computer systems, spreadsheets, and communication tools to document and share information accurately.
  7. Perform light material handling duties, including staging and organizing small components.
  8. Participate in periodic cycle counts and assist with maintaining accurate inventory levels.

Required Qualifications

  1. Proven experience in materials coordination, production support, or administrative roles in a manufacturing setting.
  2. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively across departments and all levels of the organization.
  3. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets for tracking and reporting.
  4. Exceptional organization, follow-through, and attention to detail.
  5. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced production environment.
  6. High school diploma or equivalent.
  7. Forklift certification or the ability to obtain one.
  8. Conversational English 

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment, preferably within the marine, automotive, or aerospace industry.
  2. Familiarity with mechanical or electrical parts.
  3. Experience using inventory management or ERP systems.

 

Work Environment
Must be able to work in a non-climate-controlled environment where ambient air temperature can exceed outside air temperature, reaching over 100 degrees Fahrenheit at times.

 

Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to bend at the waist and knees and stand for extended periods of time. The employee is frequently required to climb into and out of the boats using stairs. The employee must frequently be able to lift 50 pounds, work 10-hour days with most of the time being on their feet, and work overtime, whether planned or unplanned.
