TITLE:  Elementary Special Education Team Chair

TYPE OF POSITION: Full-time (1.0); 2025-2026 school year; salary commensurate with experience and education (FY 26 range $58,007-$119,899 plus additional $5,151/year stipend)

LOCATION:  Elmwood/Hopkins, Hopkinton, Massachusetts

This is the position of Team Chair, Special Education.  It is the responsibility of the incumbent to oversee and implement (with Principals’ support and supervision) a school’s entire Special Education process, procedures and services.  

 

DUTIES: 

Performs work during and beyond the school day/year, including, but not necessarily limited to:

  1. Coordinate all aspects, and chair TEAM meetings (as needed);
  2. Consult, interpret, document and coordinate special education assessments/evaluations and supervise the completion of the necessary reports and mandated documentation;
  3. Coordinate, monitor, evaluate and assist in the writing of IEPs, collection of data illustrating student progress and special education school services;
  4. Maintain an informed, professional, ongoing interaction between the TEAM members, Principals, general education school staff, parents of students with disabilities and the Director of Student Services;
  5. Participate and facilitate the transition of students with disabilities from one grade/level to the next;
  6. Meetings, such as with parents, legal conference calls or out-of-district placement issues;
  7. E-mail and other correspondence;
  8. Case inquiries from the Director or legal counsel;
  9. Other duties as required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Licensed, or eligible for licensure in Special Needs or Counseling, at the appropriate level, by the Massachusetts Department of Education Licensure;
  2. Master’s degree in a related field;
  3. Minimum three years’ experience working in a school setting with students with disabilities and their families;
  4. Thorough knowledge of all aspects of the Interdisciplinary TEAM special education process and mandated special education procedures;
  5. Proficient in understanding diagnostic and team procedures related to students with disabilities progress and eligibility for special education services;
  6. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and in conformity with state licensure requirements.
