Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care has an immediate opening for a Volunteer & Bereavement Manager.

Location: Colorado Springs, CO

Status: Full-time

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8-5, on-call required

Pay Range: $66,164 - $77,729 annually 

Supplemental Pay: Based on position, schedule and/or availability: Shift diffs/Stipends/Paid Mileage

Mileage and Expense Reimbursement: Sixty-two and a half cents per mile – one of the highest in the industry!

REWARDING WORK YOU WILL DO:

Designs, implements and coordinates the Volunteer and Bereavement Programs. Including recruitment of staff and volunteers, assignment of duties and training.  Promotes hospice to community and external resources.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Manages by providing oversight and direction and delegating responsibility to the volunteer and bereavement staff in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures.
  • Provides managerial oversight for the Volunteer Engagement and Bereavement programs. 
  • Fosters a spirit of teamwork and unity among department members, and the appreciation of diversity as well as cohesiveness, supportiveness, and working effectively together to enable each employee and the departments to succeed.
  • Provides daily supervision of volunteers, including recruitment, interviewing and assessment, training, counseling and placement with assignments.  Responsible for volunteer needs at Care Center.
  • Represents Volunteer engagement and Bereavement as well as participates in appropriate hospice meetings, training and orientation, committees, and community programs.
  • Offers support and guidance for hospice staff with assistance from volunteers.
  • Plans and coordinates volunteer recognition program.
  • Develops community relations and seeks opportunities to promote the hospice volunteer and bereavement programs as well as the hospice philosophy.
  • Maintains appropriate documentation and provides statistics when required.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum Education:    Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Non-Profit Management, Communications or other related area.  Education in grief or loss counseling. 
  • Minimum Experience:  One (1) year supervisory experience; Two (2) years volunteer management preferred.  
  • Required License:   Valid Colorado state driver’s license and proof of auto insurance.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift/carry a minimum of 30 lbs

Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care is affiliated with Care Synergy, a nonprofit network of community-based hospice and palliative care organizations serving Colorado’s Front Range and the Region’s Largest Home Health, Hospice, and Palliative Care Network. Care Synergy provides mission support services to better equip Pikes Peak Hospice & Palliative Care to operate as a distinct and independent organization while working together to share best practices and serve more Coloradans along the Front Range.
