POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for tending up to two or more automatic sheet stackers. As required, manually removes decorated sheets from oven conveyor, inspects to make sure decorated sheet meets requirements of order. Places inspected sheet on conveyor type platform. Changes loads, as required and places empty skids in restacker. Assists Press Operator in setup. Uses load turner as required. Must be able to work any shift.

EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:
Position requires one of the following:
• A minimum of one (1) year high school
• GED equivalency
• Three (3) months' experience is necessary to develop skills and knowledge to perform proficiently

SPECIAL EQUIPMENT OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Strapping machine and glove protection. Must have excellent color vision and have an excellent aptitude in color discrimination.

RELATIONSHIPS:
Lithography Department personnel.

SUPERVISED BY:
Works under Litho Department supervision and receives instruction from either coater or press operator.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Position requires pulling, pushing, or lifting objects ranging up to approximately 60 lbs.

Oventender:

1. Responsible for manually removing sheets from Litho oven wickets, and placing them on skid when inspecting decorated sheets during run.
2. Responsible for prevention of scratching of decorated surfaces and denting or fluting of sheets when order is being run.
3. Responsible for proper set-up of automatic stacker equipment and continuously attends to its proper operation, inspecting for correct sheet alignment, denting of sheets, scratching of decoration, or other obvious defects. Is required to pull sample sheets per load per instructions.
4. Rolls finished loads into proper position on conveyor, strap loads when required for trucker, and also operates load turner when required.
5. Other general duties are spot checks sheets for various defects, such as: poor coating, printing, color variation, drying, and general sheet condition.
6. May be required to perform special sampling procedures on specific items as required. May also be responsible for occasional special packaging or skid loading as required. Responsible for placing defective sheets on separate load and informing operator of any continued defect condition.
7. Responsible for placing proper load ticket in each load, also any defective “Keep Separate” ticket when required.
8. When oven is empty, assists operator with miscellaneous work, such as: wash-up procedure (wash pails, ink trays, etc.) and roller changes as required.
9. Assists other oven tenders, sorts “Keep Separate” loads, blanks, etc. as needed. Assists trucker in collection of daily scrap. Performs relief duties of other oven tenders, as required. 100%
10. Maintenance of Equipment: Checks machine product for quality. Alerts setup or supervisory personnel when machine malfunctions. 100
11. Housekeeping: Keeps departmental work areas, aisles, and storage areas safe, orderly and free of obstructions. Must properly store items so maximum use of area is accomplished. Also responsible for general housekeeping, inventories and re-warehousing. This includes sweeping on a regular basis and mopping areas when needed/instructed. 
12. Safety: Responsible for observing safety rules, PPE requirements as well as company’s policy and code of conduct at all times. Reports unsafe conditions immediately to their supervisor. Reports any and all dropped/spilled loads. 100%
