The Heart of the Role: What You’ll Be Doing
As a Catering Events Banquet Captain, you’re the face of B&B at every event. You’ll bring hospitality, coordination, and leadership to life on-site—ensuring that each service team is prepared, every detail is executed, and every guest leaves impressed. You’ll guide staff, communicate with clients, and keep the event running smoothly from start to finish.
How You’ll Help Bring Events to Life
In this role, here is what you will do:
- Review event worksheets and logistics before arrival; clarify questions with the Event Specialist
- Arrive on time and lead the on-site team with professionalism and clarity
- Check in with the client or event contact and confirm setup, timeline, and service flow
- Manage service teams, assign duties, and provide real-time coaching and feedback
- Ensure breaks and meal periods are scheduled and tracked per California labor laws
- Oversee food and beverage service and maintain a clean, organized event space
- Assist with event setup and breakdown, ensuring the venue is restored to its original state
- Provide a written Event Report within two business days following the event
- Use Nowsta to manage your availability and respond to shift requests within 24 hours
The Ingredients for Success in This Role (Required & Preferred Qualifications)
- 3+ years of catering or event service experience
- 2+ years in a supervisory or leadership role
- Must be 21 or older
- ServSafe and RBS/TIPS Certified or ability to become certified
- Exceptional organizational, communication, and leadership skills
- Calm under pressure and able to adapt in real time
- Available evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Reliable transportation and consistent punctuality
Work Conditions & Physical Aspects of the Role
This role may require:
- Standing or walking for extended periods
- Repetitive motion using hands and arms
- Lifting/moving up to 40 pounds
- Working in high-activity or variable temperature environments
- Occasional communication in loud or busy settings
