POSITION SUMMARY: This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Association Compliance Trainer is responsible for delivering high-quality training across the Association, including CPR/First Aid and other program specific trainings. This role fosters a safe and positive learning environment, ensures staff understand and apply YMCA policies, procedures, and service standards. This position will promote respect, safety, and inclusiveness while supporting the professional growth and development of staff across multiple departments.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Plans, organize, and facilitate training session for staff at all levels across the Association.
- Organize teaching outlines, methods, and goals that align with program requirements and standards.
- Adapt teaching approach to match the experience of and abilities of participants.
- Organize direct activities to provide high-quality instruction for all participants.
- Identify potential challenges in training materials and proactively address them before the session
- Ensure all safety guidelines are in place and enforced before, during and after the training sessions.
- Use course materials and training equipment safely and effectively.
- Inform participants of evaluation procedures and course completion requirements.
- Submit required course documentation according to procedural guidelines within specified timelines.
- Lead by example, modeling proper expectations and professional conduct.
- Maintain calm and objective demeanor under pressure.
- Maintain accurate records as required by the YMCA and/or regulatory agencies.
- Complete all required compliance and professional development training annually or as assigned.
- Support other duties as assigned to meet the needs of the association.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be willing to obtain a nationally recognized First Aid, CPR/BLS, and Oxygen Administration certification, as well as the instructor certification in these areas. Holding certification upon hire is preferred.
- Minimum six months of experience as a trainer.
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate engaging in-person and virtual learning experiences.
- Strong organizational and time management skills; able to manage multiple trainings and priorities.
- Proven ability to coach and support peers in skill development and performance improvement.
- Working knowledge of adult learning principles and how to apply them in a practical setting.
- Comfortable using or learning digital learning systems.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to work in a variety of environments, specifically those subject to extreme humidity/dampness and heat.
- Communicate verbally, including projecting the voice across distances, and communicating with emergency response personnel over the telephone.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. and stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time; occasionally stoop/bend.
- Always maintain a neat and professional appearance.
- Physically perform all skills required of a lifeguard.
