Roads Project Inspector I, II or III bei Cherokee Nation

Inspects road construction projects for compliance with plans and specifications, dimensional and alignment accuracy, conformance with Oklahoma State Transportation Departments specifications and Federal Highway Specifications by performing the following duties.

Stays current with the latest laws and specifications pertaining to road construction. Inspects the grading of road bed, cuts and fills to roadway, placement of culverts, box culverts, and construction of bridges. Tests all materials used in the road bed and surfacing for gradation, asphalt or concrete content, and general specification compliance. Records quantity of material approved and rejected on inspection reports. Calculates quantities of materials places by contractor. Verifies conformance of bridge beams for dimensional specification. Ensures proper signing of project by contractor to met all safety code requirements. Ensures contractor compliance with all EPA and Corps of Engineers permit requirements. Ensures compliance with Erosion control measures as put forth within the plans and specifications and alerts CNO management if problems arise and plans to be modified for better pollution compliance. Maintains daily log of construction and inspection activities and compares progress reports. Other duties may be assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

No supervisory responsibility.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT

Associate’s degree from two-year college or technical school; or two years (60 credit hours) coursework from four-year college or university; or three years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT

An additional two years related experience is required.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Must have good mathematical skills.
