We are searching for a Direct Ship Packer to join the team in our Custom Shop. Under the general direction and supervision of a department Supervisor, the Custom Shop Direct Ship Packer will perform a variety of functions in the final set up and packing of Fender products. The packaging department is the final phase of the assembly process. A variety of guitars and basses are prepared for shipping to vendors. Employees within the packaging department will rotate among several tasks. Case selection, packing of musical instruments, box assembly, seal box and pallet runner. Each function consists of a series of sub-processes resulting in a packaged product that meets all required shipping standards. As needed employees may cross over to another function during a shift to help team members catch up to meet the daily shipping demands.

Essential Functions:

  • The Custom Shop Direct Ship Packer performing this function will refer to the individual guitar travelers to provide the information on how to prepare for the instrument to be packaged.
  • It will provide the product name for the instrument, inform the type of strap required (if any), the type of case, and the type of owner’s registration, etc. After viewing this information, the employee will start with selecting the appropriate case, case candy including proper signed Certs, wipe down/weigh the guitar, take a picture of front and back of guitar, put in appropriate box with appropriate end caps, seal the box, apply proper labels, then palletize and await instructions as to where the guitar will be going next, working back with the immediate Coordinator for instructions.
  • Additional duties as assigned

 Qualifications:

  • Strong written and oral communication skills, in order to maintain an ongoing one piece flow process, while communicated shortages of supplies and irregularities or issues that arise
  • Must have the ability to be a team player and be able to make suggestions and receive constructive criticism.
  • Must be computer literate in order to monitor and use computer screen and understand orders.
  • Ability to adapt to change and fast paced work flow environment.
  • Maintain a positive mental attitude while promotes and safe working environment.
  • SAP knowledge a plus
  • FedEx shipping experience a plus
  • International shipping experience a plus
  • High School Diploma or equivalent -2 years’ experience and/or training.
