Nemours is seeking a Quality and Safety Data Intelligence Developer to join our Nemours Children's Health team.

This is a remote position.

The Quality & Safety Data Intelligence Developer will join the enterprise Data and Analytics team within the Quality & Safety Department, as well as the Nemours Enterprise Intelligence Team and will be responsible for empowering users with data across the enterprise, providing a unique blend of clinical, business, technical, and analytical expertise.   This position will report to the System Director of Data Analytics & Business Intelligence for Quality & Safety.  This position will also work closely with the Nemours Enterprise Intelligence Team.  This position is primarily responsible for the design, development and ongoing maintenance of business intelligence solutions for solutions for all areas of clinical and business operations. Additionally, this position leads efforts necessary for resolving complex technical issues through debugging, research, and investigation.  The position will also participate in researching and evaluating new technology products or may suggest changes or enhancements to existing products as required to support the overall Nemours Enterprise Intelligence strategy.

A successful candidate is articulate, analytical, and a team player who understands the power of data storytelling to drive change. This position works with interdisciplinary teams to create solutions for improving operational and clinical decision making. The developer learns quickly, works independently, and is relentless in overcoming technical, process, and organizational obstacles.  The Developer will actively contribute to projects and tasks with appropriate data. The individual will need to build relationships with key stakeholders, be an expert in multiple data sources, and implement sustainable data solutions. The individual will also provide operational support for organizational data needs such as adhoc and scheduled reporting.  

  • Serve as a technical lead and subject matter expert in the area of business intelligence solutions (report/dashboard) development to successfully facilitate the delivery of these items in support of clinical and business objectives.
  • Engage with application analysts, business analysts, and report/dashboard end users to assess needs, gather and define requirements, and document solution specifications. Works with teams and business stakeholders to gather requirements, develop metrics, retrieve data, and ensure validity of results.
  • Design, develop, test and deploy business intelligence solutions (dashboards and/or reports) that adhere to department standards and best practices. Creates appropriate data solutions (dashboards, reports, business intelligence  tools, etc) and data analysis for the measurement of processes and outcomes.
  • Cultivate productive customer relationships and ensure that solutions meet customer needs and align with the overall Nemours Enterprise Quality & Safety and Data Intelligence strategy.
  • Debug, monitor, and troubleshoot solutions and continuously evaluate solutions for optimization. Make recommendations for optimizations where appropriate. 
  • Collaborate with other information systems teams to Identify and troubleshoot data quality concerns.
  • Actively participate in data governance activities and contribute to the development of team goals, product roadmaps and strategic plans. 
  • Teach, coach and mentor other developers as required to help the team collectively deliver on goals and objectives.
  • Demonstrates excellent data storytelling skills through outstanding presentation and communication to share findings in an understandable and actionable manner tailored to audience and customer's needs.
  • Team Player - Collaborates with enterprise data warehouse, data governance, quality improvement, clinical informatics and business teams on any issues relating to data quality, architecture or structure of data repositories impacting analytics. Develops and maintains appropriate, current status and documentation on projects and work products.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required or equivalent work experience can be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum of three (3) years experience in analytics/business intelligence required.
  • Experience with data visualization tools preferred (Qlik, Tableau, Power BI, etc).
  • Awareness of Quality & Safety improvement initiatives.
  • Experience with relational database structures.
  • Experience with SQL.
  • Experience with EPIC Clarity.
