A Day in the Life
This role will lead a small Facilities team, ensuring all facility assets operate at peak performance. The position is based onsite at our San Antonio office.This position is an exciting opportunity to work with Medtronic's Diabetes business. Medtronic has announced its intention to separate the Diabetes division to promote future growth and innovation within the business and reallocate investments and resources across Medtronic, subject to applicable information and consultation requirements. This separation provides our team with a bold opportunity to unleash our potential, enabling us to operate with greater speed and agility. As a separate entity, we anticipate leveraging increased investments to drive meaningful innovation and enhance our impact on patient care.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
Oversee daily facility operations, including custodial services, life safety systems, engineering, site services, and general maintenance, ensuring all activities are performed safely and efficiently.
Coordinate building space allocation, layout planning, communication systems, and facility expansion projects.
Manage the design, planning, construction, and maintenance of equipment, machinery, buildings, and other physical assets.
Develop plans, budgets, and schedules for facility modifications, including preparing estimates for equipment, labor, materials, and related costs.
Create and implement organizational policies specific to the Facilities department.
May be responsible for establishing and overseeing health and safety standards within the facilities.
Select, develop, and evaluate team members to ensure optimal performance and the efficient operation of the department.
Must Haves
High School Diploma or equivalent
Minimum 1 year of facilities experience
Nice to Have
Experience managing Class A office building facilities
Bachelor’s degree or higher
Facility Manager Certification (CFM)
Experience working with vendors
Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
Broad knowledge of technical or operational practices within facilities management
Advanced understanding of job-related processes, typically gained through a combination of education and experience
Familiarity with basic management approaches, including work scheduling, prioritization, coaching, and process execution
Effective communication skills (verbal and written)
Functional knowledge of:
Building Automation Systems (BAS)
Computerized Maintenance Management Software (CMMS)
HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems
Maintenance operations, administrative services, contract management, security, janitorial, and grounds maintenance
Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively across all organizational levels
