Pacific Coast Producers, growing agricultural cooperative with food production facilities across the West Coast, is seeking General Labor Workers to join our team at our production facility in Salem, OR. PCP is investing in its people and advancing a culture of service, where each employee can do their best to make affordable, high-quality food for customers across North America. Our Salem facility produces maraschino cherries and other cherry products in various styles, colors, and flavors and employs between 70-100 employees.
Pay Rate: $16.85 per hour. This is an on-site role and runs Mon - Fri from 7:00 AM to 11:30 PM. (hours may vary due to being a part-time position - 16-24 hours in total per week to start) This position provides advancement opportunities commensurate with the employee’s demonstrated abilities and achievements.
As a General Laborer, you perform a variety of production labor tasks in multiple areas or departments, under the direct supervision of production supervisors and management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Monitor production output to keep supplies at needed operational levels at all times.
- Move inventory in a safe and productive manner between bottling backside and warehouses. Responsible for maintaining supply warehouse integrity & ensuring barrels are stored in an orderly fashion.
- Monitor and report packaging supplies necessary to keep Bottling running. Inform Backside Lead & Supervisor of any packaging needs daily to ensure adequate lead time for scheduled production supplies.
- Complete and turn in daily verification of cases produced and warehoused.
- Ability to generate product labels utilizing company computerized inventory system.
- Maintain green sheets by verifying lot codes & product quantity.
- Will assist the front side LTO as needed.
- Ensure that all safety rules are enforced and that proper safety equipment (PPE) is worn wherever needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized and hazard free work environment.
- Will rotate duties as assigned with second bottling lift truck operator.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Production Manager, Supervisor or Crew leader.
- Pacific Coast Producers is a food processing facility and it is the responsibility of every employee to perform all job duties and other activities in a manner that upholds the safety and quality of the facilities and products produced. In addition, it is the responsibility of each employee to report all food safety issues or concerns to a Production Manager, Plant Manager or QA Management.
Minimum Qualifications
- Physically capable of performing all job duties.
- Demonstrate good mechanical aptitude and problem solving skills for intricate machinery.
- Demonstrate ability to follow all Good Manufacturing Practices and safety rules.
- Able to read and write English & possess basic math skills. Must demonstrate these skills by passing a basic math & language skills assessment with a score of 70% or better.
- Intermediate computer skills.
- Able to multi-task and organize workload while maintaining accurate records.
- Must be familiar with PCP branded and private label stock
- Must be able to work overtime, swing shift or weekends as needed.
- Must possess and maintain a good attendance record.
- Must be able to read and write English
Physical Requirements: Frequent physical activity includes walking, bending, standing, twisting, pushing, pulling, lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs., touching, reaching, gripping, finger dexterity, and hearing. Moderate physical activity may include stooping, color identification, close vision, and depth perception. Under strenuous conditions, employees are still expected to perform their job requirements in a safe manner.
Environmental Factors: Working conditions include exposure to plant temperature extremes, dampness, humidity, fumes, and high noise levels. Work requires wearing proper protective equipment. Incumbent may work with rotating machinery and in a crowded area.
