The Division of Social Sciences at Prairie View A&M University invites applications for the non-tenure-track adjunct instructor position in support of our Geography Program. The Division seeks candidates who are committed to excellence in teaching, research, and service to the University. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Geography courses and supporting relevant programming in support of faculty and student development.
This position is funded by a grant or restricted funds. Continued employment is contingent on the renewal of grant or restricted funding.
The salary is determined in accordance with the University’s compensation structure and will be commensurate with the candidates’ education and experience, within the assigned salary range for this position.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for teaching Geography courses.
Responsible for keeping records, posting grades (mid-term & final), submitting attendance reporting, and mentoring/advising students.
Participate in Program-level duties such as academic assessment, student and faculty development, and curriculum enhancement.
Performs other duties as assigned by the program coordinator and or division head.
Required Education & Experience:
Master's degree degree in Geography or a related field.
Effectively teach one to two courses in Geography per semester.
Obtain PVAMU’s online teaching certification credentials and provide online and hybrid courses as required.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Demonstrated expertise in Intro to Human Geography and World Regional Geography.
Proficiency in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is highly desirable.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
More than two years of full-time teaching experience in higher education.
Positive track record of recruiting students and program development
