Field Placement Coordinator (Remote Position)


Position Type: Full-Time, Benefited

Work Location: Mostly Remote


Westminster University in Salt Lake City, UT invites applications for a Field Placement Coordinator for the EPP (Educator Preparation Program) to manage field experiences for undergraduate and graduate educator preparation programs. The coordinator will work with the EPP director, faculty, supervisors, Utah State Board of Education (USBE), school district HR directors, principals, and teachers. This position develops and maintains systemwide policies and procedures for all field experiences and student teaching. This is a full-time, 12 month, mostly remote position that reports to the EPP Director.


Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in elementary education.
  • Three years of professional experience as an elementary teacher in public schools.
  • Outstanding organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills (oral and written) are required, along with the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Evidence of supervisory experience and familiarity with database software, assessment, curriculum design and alignment.
  • Willingness to learn state and federal mandated reporting processes. Ability to build positive relationships with schools and the community.

 Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Master’s degree
  • Four+ years of professional experience as an elementary teacher in public schools.
  • Demonstrated record of professional development with practicing teachers

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to use technology to maintain accurate records and develop reports.
  • Knowledge and application of skills including planning, prioritizing, implementing, and evaluating.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail.
  • Ability to solve problems independently.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion.
  • Ability to assist elementary teacher candidates with preparing for the Utah Foundations of Reading Assessment (i.e., Provide access to and monitor candidates use of the 240 Tutoring online system). 
  • Ability to be an effective representative of Westminster University to affiliated LEAs and USBE.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

 1) Responsible for placing candidates in diverse field experiences (i.e., methods and student teaching placements).

  1. Conduct necessary pre-clearance processes for methods and student teaching experiences.
  2. Serve as point of contact for local education agencies (LEAs).
  3. Conduct pre-placement meetings and orientations for students and teachers.
  4. Train and coordinate cooperating teachers and mentor teachers and collect feedback from LEAs.
  5. Monitor field placements with LEAs.
  6. Provide support for struggling candidates and field experience personnel in conjunction with the EPP director.
  7. Coordinate remediation procedures and policies in cooperation with the EPP Director.

 

2) Administer a comprehensive student teaching program 

  1. Facilitate the Student Teaching Seminar (EDUC 418/MAT 607) Fall and Spring Semesters.
  2. Update and maintain the field experience and student teaching handbook.
  3. Provide active supervision of methods students and student teachers.
  4. Recruit and support personnel who assist in supervision of methods students and student teachers.
  5. Coordinate hiring and payment for all cooperative teachers and university supervisors.
  6. Work with district HR directors to coordinate job interviews with qualified teacher candidates.
  7. Manages summer exam prep.

 

3) Other duties as assigned by the EPP director.
