Primary Purpose:
Provide leadership and coordination to provide an aligned and articulated instructional program in the subject area assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree preferred from accredited university with a major in assigned subject
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject assigned
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of curriculum design and implementation

- Ability to evaluate instruction programs and teaching effectiveness
- Knowledge of planning, staff development, and accreditation
- Excellent oral and written communication skills

- Skilled in the use of computers and computer software
Experience:
Five years teaching experience in subject area assigned
Essential Job Functions:
- Coordinate the review, development, and revision of all subject area programs and related curriculum documents and materials, including curriculum guides, course outlines, and teaching plans.
- Collaborate with directors and campus principals in developing and supervising the instructional programs in assigned subject area.
- Plan, improve, and oversee testing programs for the assigned subject area.
- Coordinate the ordering and use of departmental instructional aids and materials for assigned subject area.
- Obtain and use evaluative findings (including student achievement data) to examine curriculum and instruction program effectiveness for the assigned subject area.
- Engage web-based tools for communication, dissemination of information and productivity.
- Assist in the preparation of the budget and administration of the budget for supplies, equipment, and facilities in area of assignment.
- Plan and provide staff development for teachers, administrators, and staff in designated subject area and general C&I related processes.
- Disseminate information regarding current research and significant developments on the state and national levels in area assigned.
- Observe classroom instruction and provide feedback and assistance to classroom teachers to facilitate improvement and innovation.
- Demonstrate teaching strategies with students in classroom.
- Assist in communicating information to parent and community members about school programs.
- Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
- Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies.
- Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
- Conduct extensive surveys to determine needs at specific levels of education district wide.
- Coordinate a district wide staff development calendar.
- Serve as a resource to teachers, principals, district staff, and the community.
- Research best practice related to specialized areas and work to secure training.
- Establish a database to track attendance and follow-up on all scheduled training.
- Assist in the development efforts for district professional development publications, including online catalogs for training opportunities.

- Secure consultants, speakers and presenters.
- Disseminate training information through professional development catalog, newsletters, and website.
- Conduct evaluations related to scheduled training.
- Develop creative ways to deliver training to all staff (teachers, teacher assistants, bus drivers, therapists, administrators, etc.).
- Determine when out of district training is necessary.
- Report to work in a timely manner according to assigned schedule.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or other administrator that are consistent with the general requirements and qualifications for the position.
