The Ohio State University is seeking a very detail-oriented, organized, and experienced professional to support the conduct of interlaboratory testing among tobacco product emissions testing stakeholders administered through the Brinkman Machine Smoking and Emissions Testing Laboratory (MSETL). This role involves recruitment of laboratories from around the world, acting as the liaison between MSETL and participating laboratories to answer questions and communicate expectations, procuring and distributing study materials nationally and internationally according to a standard procedure, routinely checking on data entry progress,  and ensuring the project workflow is both efficient and effective.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct a collaborative interlaboratory study according to the study protocol and the MSETL Chemical Hygiene Plan.
  • Communicate potential risks to laboratory safety, project budget, schedule, and scientific integrity to the study principal investigators (Prof. Brinkman and Dr. El Hellani) as soon as possible.
  • Manage MSETL workflow according to project deadlines and budgets.
  • Document details of all study interactions with potential and actual participating laboratories and materials vendors.
  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), including documented quality control monitoring for study metrics such as tobacco product storage conditions, shipping, and emissions testing data.
  • Conduct and document completeness checking for all study outcomes, including emissions testing meta- and analytical data and laboratory contractual agreements regarding data use.
  • Identify and procure equipment needed for secure, frozen, and refrigerated storage of reference and commercial tobacco products.
  • Procure reference and commercial tobacco products and emissions testing universal adaptors, and develop and maintain a secure, cradle-to-grave inventory tracking system.
  • Supervise and mentor student workers and research assistants in the conduct of tasks to complete study goals on time and within budget.
  • Prepare and analyze project progress metrics to support research and project goals.
  • Contribute to the development of slide presentations documenting project progress for the client, and poster presentations, talks, and publications to disseminate project results.
  • Design and implement standard procedures for shipping study products and adaptors internationally and nationally in compliance with US law and customs.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

Pay Range: $24.76- 32.33

Salary will be based off of education, experience, internal equity, and budget allowance.

Additional Information:

**This position is contingent upon funding and will end on or before September 29, 2028, with possibility of renewal based on continued availability of funding and performance.**
