HOURS & SHIFT REQUIREMENTS: Part time1st & 3rd Thursday and 2nd Tuesday of the month is the initial schedule with a goal of 4 days (Monday – Thursday) weekly…8 am – 5 pm Full time, Monday-Thursday.


JOB TITLE:    TRAVELING SECURITY GUARD/MOBILE UNIT DRIVER

DEPARTMENT:  TRAVELING MOBILE UNIT/GIBSON RECOVERY OPTIMIZING 
       WELLNESS, #10 DOCTORS PARK, GIBSON CITY, IL 60936 

GENERAL SUMMARY

Traveling mobile unit security guard is tasked to ensuring the safety for patients, visitors, and employees while in and around the GROW TRAVELING MOBILE UNIT. Security Guard is also responsible for carrying out loss prevention tactics as well as proactive approaches of ensuring a location is free of criminal incidents. Responsible for maintaining a valid Illinois CDL driver’s license with air brakes endorsement. Responsible for driving the mobile unit on a set schedule to outside intrastate counties maintaining the vehicle’s safety and operational status and providing on-site security for patients, visitors, and staff.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.    Maintains secure and safe environment (security checks, outside watches, security log)
2.    Maintains confidentiality.  Recognizes and respects the rights of patients.
3.    Able to display good judgment and decision making.
4.    Responds to violent or potentially violent situations in a timely manner and performs in a manner consistent with his/her training.
5.    Drives the mobile unit to scheduled locations according to a pre-arranged schedule and reaches destination prior to scheduled mobile unit opening time.
6.    Performs vehicle checks and ensures the unit is in good mechanical condition on the scheduled days prior to departure, during services, and return. 
7.    Keeps driving area of mobile unit as well as exterior and interior in clean and proper working conditions, including scheduled and unscheduled vehicle maintenance.
8.    Excellent customer service, verbal and written communication skills.
9.    Neat personal appearance.  
10.    Promotes teamwork and maintains rapport and communication with physicians and staff.
11.    Greets and interacts with patients and other visitors in a cordial manner.
12.    Exhibits flexibility in response to changing work situations.
13.    Notifies Manager of GROW of problems, equipment/product defects, and important information encountered in dealing with physicians, patients, visitors, or other department personnel.
14.    Assumes responsibility for own continuing education.
15.    Participates in the established Patient Safety Program.
16.    Commitment to the mission and vision of GAHHS.
17.    Exhibits professionalism in the workplace.
18.    Reports to work on time. Returns from meals and breaks within the appropriate time frame.
19.    Demonstrates initiative (drive, creativity, inquisitiveness, and resourcefulness)
20.    Demonstrates a positive attitude characterized by enthusiasm, dedication, integrity, and a high degree of interest in the job.
21.    Performs other duties/tasks around the security area (i.e. snow/ice removal, help with mobile unit awning).
22.    Perform Life Safety responsibilities as assigned. 
23.    Answers telephone courteously and in a friendly manner.  Personal phone calls are kept to a minimum.
24.    Proficient in moderate computer skills with ability to complete incident reports.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Typical Physical Demands
Requires full range of body motion, including manual and finger dexterity with eye/hand coordination.  Frequent walking, bending, sitting, and standing for extended periods of time.  Job requires lifting.

Light effort – approximately 15 lbs.        Under 100 lbs.
Medium effort – approximately 35 lbs.        100 to 300 lbs.
Heavy effort – approximately 60 lbs.        Over 300 lbs.

1.    Physical strength to perform the following lifting tasks:

•    Floor to waist - 50 pounds
•    14” to waist - 60 pounds
•    Waist to shoulder - 35 pounds
•    Shoulder to overhead - 20 pounds
•    Carry 50 pounds for 30 feet
•    Push 40 pounds/force for 30 feet
•    Pull 40 pounds/force for 30 feet

Fully mobility on steps, ladders, and at heights.  Visual and hearing acuity within normal range with/without corrective devices.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP     
Reports to the Office Manager, Respective Physician, GAH Administration

Qualifications


EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

1.    High School diploma or equivalency
2.    Eighteen years of age or older
3.    Must have a valid Illinois driver’s license throughout employment
4.    Must have a valid Illinois CDL with airbrake endorsement hroughout employment
5.    Must have a valid Illinois Firearm Owner’s Identification Card (F.O.I.D.) or have the ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire date. – Illinois Concealed Carry Permit is preferred. 
6.    Must be able to successfully complete/pass the assigned Taser, Handcuffing, & O.C. training within 6 months of hire and complete refresher training annually.
7.    Must obtain ICAHN De-Escalation Certification or show proof of certification from another approved entity. (Not applicable for current Police Officers).   
8.    Must obtain CPR/AED training within 6 months of hire.
9.    Must be capable of keeping all necessary certification and training up to date.

INFECTION EXPOSURE RISK LEVEL

Category II – this job involves tasks that routinely do not involve exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues, but exposure or potential exposure may occur in emergency situations.  It is recommended that you receive the Hepatitis B Vaccine.


WORKING CONDITIONS

1.    Subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions. 
2.    Driving long distances and in all weather conditions. 
3.    Exposure to somewhat disagreeable conditions such as dust/dirt, loud noises, cramped work spaces, and tasks where caution must be exercised to insure safety. 
4.    Reasonably anticipated occupational exposure to blood, blood borne pathogens, and other potentially infectious materials.  

Hours of Work
1.    Security Guards may work weekends, holidays, other shifts, and overtime as required by the department for patient services and events.  GAHHS reserves the right to change the work schedule of an employee when it is in the best interest of the organization.  All overtime is to be approved by the GROW Manager.
