Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY

The Chemical Line Operator is responsible for running the chemical line (chromicoat, chem film, etc.) ensuring compliance with company and product standards. This conversion coating process for aluminum and its alloys is applied by immersion or spray providing excellent paint adhesion and improved corrosion resistance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Set up, operate, and maintain the chemical line coating process
  • Ability to read and understand basic blueprint callouts
  • Ensure product is accurately coated through firm adherence to the SOP and quality specs
  • Accurate record keeping required to adhere to county sewer code
  • Accurate record keeping is required to adhere to local, state, and federal agencies
  • Ability to learn management of all hazardous waste in Niagara Plant and earn HAZMAT Certification (Ex: Apply date stickers, schedule waste pick-up, keep all paperwork / manifest in proper order)
  • Participate in regular Niagara County and waste management meetings for audit purposes as needed
  • Assist outside environmental service contractors with various quarterly samples, paperwork required (chain of custody forms for discharges) and PH discharges monthly as needed
  • Manage operational aspects of chemical line including weekly titration (chemical balance in tanks)
  • Maintain filter system in chemical line operation
  • Assist with annual waste reports
  • Operation of a crane is necessary, after on-the-job training
  • Follow all PPE, safety and 5S guidelines always
  • Expected to support team development by sharing best practices and assisting in the training of coworkers as needed
  • All other duties as assigned

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or technical school diploma or equivalent in relevant work experience preferred
  • Proficient in accurate use of liquid measuring tools
  • Ability to read and work from blueprints
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions and/or correspondence
  • Mechanically inclined and possess strong degree of attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communications skills required
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw and apply valid conclusions
  • Ability to be cross trained throughout manufacturing facility
  • Ability to work in a team-fostered environment
