About STMA Schools
We are a district that serves over 6,700 students and employs 750+ employees in a northwestern suburb of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Our district consists of one primary school for kindergarten students, three elementary schools for grades 1-4, two middle schools for grades 5-8, and one high school for grades 9-12.

 

Position Overview & Responsibilities
Responsible for developing and providing specialized, research-based instruction to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities via in-home or virtual instruction. Also responsible for evaluating and assessing student progress against instructional objectives and following state mandated due process procedures and functions. Start date: Immediate
FTE: 0.025 - 0.3 FTE, depending on position

Contract: Student contact days during the 2025-26 school year

 

Position 1: 3 hours per week

Position 2: 1-2 hours per week

Position 3: 5 hours per week

 

These positions may be hired separately, or combined into one or two positions.  Work may be performed by a current STMA Teacher outside of current duty hours for additional compensation or by a new part-time hire during normal school hours in accordance with the contract.

 

Requirements & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in education and required teaching certificate in Special Education as required by the State of Minnesota, specific content knowledge, training, or job experience required before appointment, and successful student teaching. Dual licensure preferred but not required.

 

Assignments 

Special education teachers work by district assignment and may be moved between buildings and/or programs based on student needs, location of certain programs, student count(s), and applicable licensure. 

 

Contract: 186 days/year
Salary Range: depends upon actual final FTE, however, range for 0.3 FTE would be: $13,925-$26,230. For more information, please see the Certified Master Contract 2023-2025.  Salary range listed is based on the collective bargaining agreement for the current school year, and may increase with the negotiation of the 2025-2027 collective bargaining agreement.  Salary listed is for full school year (August 25, 2025-September 5, 2026), will be prorated for first year based on start date.
Benefits: Earned Safe and Sick Time and Minnesota Paid Leave provided as required by law.  Other benefits such as health, dental, and life insurance are available without district contribution for this/these 0.3 FTE or less position(s).  401(b) available without district contribution, also.
