Description

The Accounting Specialist is responsible for overseeing and performing all accounting functions for the Commercial Division, Pulito Closet Division and Units of NE Kansas.  This role requires strong organizational and analytical skills, with responsibility for financial reporting, inventory management, accounts payable, and cross-functional support. The Accounting Specialist will also serve as a backup Customer Service Representative (CSR) as needed for business continuity.

Key Responsibilities

General Accounting (All Divisions):

  • Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including journal entries, A/R, A/P, reconciliations, and month-end close.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
  • Monitor budgets, expenses, and variances across divisions.
  • Maintain general ledger and ensure timely posting of transactions.
  • Assist in audits, tax filings, and compliance reporting.

Inventory Management:

  • Oversee inventory tracking, ordering, costing, and reconciliations.
  • Ensure accurate valuation of raw materials, WIP, and finished goods.
  • Collaborate with operations to investigate discrepancies and improve inventory controls.
  • Support cycle counts and annual physical inventory processes.

Accounts Payable – St. Marys Division:

  • Process and review vendor invoices, match purchase orders, and ensure timely payments.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
  • Maintain vendor files and assist in annual 1099 reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with company purchasing and payment policies.

Backup Customer Service Representative (CSR):

  • Provide coverage for CSR duties as needed, including order entry, customer communication, and issue resolution.
  • Assist with maintaining strong customer relationships and ensuring excellent service.

Qualifications


  • HS Diploma or equivalent
  • 3-5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting best practices.
  • Proficiency with ERP/accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Preferred Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field and 1-2 years accounting related experience
  • Experience in manufacturing accounting and inventory management.
  • Knowledge of internal controls and process improvement.
  • Familiarity with customer service functions and ERP order processing systems.
