You Will Be Responsible For:
Facilitates day-to-day workflow and operations, including recommending procedures for obtaining authorization, forms and letters required for pre-transplant, transplant, and post-transplant phases. Provides customer service recovery when patient complaints/concerns are reported, serves as liaison between Managed Care and other AdventHealth departments.
· Reviews all hospital and professional charges ensuring the appropriate, payer, guarantor and alternate payers are correct ensuring proper and timely claims filing.
· Performs crisis intervention when financial issues arise pre- and post- implant/transplant. Participates in patient advocacy, resource brokering, and information and referral services. Serves as general advocate for patients and their families throughout the pre-and post-transplant process.
· Participates in authorized alternatives for the program such as Letters of Agreement, Pre-Provision of Services and Foundation Philanthropy; works with Managed Care, Legal Services and The Foundation to ensure proper protocols are followed, if a denial is received. Prepares quotes for international patients and works with all AdventHealth parties to ensure that accounts are billed timely and that payments are dispersed appropriately.
· Pro-actively initiates quality improvement ideas/suggestions in an effort to improve the patient experience of care (including quality and satisfaction), improve the health of the populations served, and reduce the cost of clinic care.
· Establishes and maintains a working relationship with key contacts at insurance companies (i.e. case managers, medical directors) and other departments within AdventHealth (i.e. Patient Financial Services, Reimbursement, and Accounting).
· Maintains current knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid rules or any legislation affecting the transplant patients.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
· Proficiency in Microsoft (Word, Excel and Access)
· Effective oral and written communication skills
· Self-directed with ability to be part of a team
· Knowledge of medical terminology and understanding of clinical concepts
· Ability to speak confidently with physicians and leadership
· Ability to make decisions quickly
· Knowledge of insurance practices regarding benefits, authorizations and appeals
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
· Four (4) years of experience in Consumer Access/Patient Financial Services OR
· Three (3) years' experience in Medical Office, Registration, Finance, Collections, Customer Service
· High School Degree
