Chapman University’s Dodge College of Film and Media Arts seeks a seasoned sports media journalist to enrich our faculty to fulfill Artistic Assistant Professor of Sports Media, Non-Tenure Track, Spring 2026 position.

Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will teach four courses in both the fall and spring semesters, which would include an introductory sports reporting class for freshmen, a sports podcasting class and a capstone class of juniors and seniors that will produce a live half time and post game show.
The successful candidate will also serve as faculty advisor to undergraduate students within the Documentary, Sports Media and Journalism major, serve on university and Dodge College committees and other service projects as assigned, and maintain currency in the industry.
Required:
- Significant experience working in sports journalism at national and/or local levels, as well as on digital and social media platforms.
- Has produced significant work that has achieved national and industry recognition.
- Multimedia journalism experience who can teach sports media students the storytelling skills needed today: live production, videography, editing, social media, ethics, cross platform writing.
- A master’s degree or significant, equivalent, professional experience will also be considered.
Desired:
- Previous teaching experience is preferred.
- Ideally, the candidate will also have a solid understanding of what it means to teach “sports beyond stats and the scoreboard” as well as the production demands of field reporting and live production.
