Position Summary
The Psychologist provides comprehensive psychological assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for patients served by Medical Associates Plus (MAP), a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). This role supports the integration of behavioral health and primary care by delivering evidence-based therapeutic interventions, consulting with medical providers, and contributing to overall patient wellness. The Psychologist collaborates closely with the Behavioral Health and Primary Care teams to ensure that all services are patient-centered, culturally competent, and compliant with regulatory and organizational standards.
Responsibilities and Duties
Clinical Care
- Conduct psychological assessments, diagnostic evaluations, and psychotherapy for individuals, families, and groups.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans using evidence-based approaches.
- Provide consultation and coordination with primary care providers and behavioral health staff to support integrated care.
- Deliver crisis intervention and risk assessments as needed.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Promote the principles of integrated care and the Patient-Centered Medical Home model.
Program and Service Development
- Participate in the design and implementation of behavioral health programs that enhance access and quality of care.
- Contribute to the development of protocols, screening tools, and care pathways that promote early identification and intervention for behavioral health needs.
Quality Improvement
- Collaborate with the Quality Improvement Director to monitor and evaluate clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction.
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives, audits, and compliance reviews.
- Use data and feedback to identify opportunities for improving access, efficiency, and patient engagement.
Collaboration and Communication
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to review cases and coordinate care.
- Provide training, consultation, and support to other clinical staff on behavioral health topics.
- Maintain effective communication with leadership and other departments to ensure continuity of care and compliance with organizational policies.
- Participate in staff meetings, training, and continuing education to maintain licensure and clinical competencies.
Qualifications
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an accredited program.
- Licensed or license-eligible Psychologist in the State of South Carolina
- Minimum of three (3) years of post-licensure clinical experience preferred.
- Experience in community health, integrated care, or public mental health preferred.
- Experience working with diverse populations across the lifespan.
- Preferred Minimum of two (2) years of experience providing psychological services to children and/or adolescents in a clinical, community health, or school-based setting preferred.
Physical Demands & Working Conditions
- Ability to perform job duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Frequent sitting, intermittent walking, and use of office and clinical equipment.
- Visual and auditory acuity required (with or without assistive devices).
- Office-based clinical environment with frequent patient interaction and occasional interruptions.
- Occasional travel between MAP sites may be required.
