The Whitacre College of Engineering (WCOE, https://www.depts.ttu.edu/coe/) serves approximately 5125 undergraduate and 1053 graduate students, supported by 204 faculty and instructors.  The college had 856 BS, 580 MS and 84 PhD graduates in the 2024-25 fiscal year. All incoming first year students are enrolled in a common foundational curriculum for all undergraduate programs. Foundational students declare a program of choice and can move into upper division after completing the foundational classes with a TTU GPA of 2.5 or higher.  The WCOE consists of the Departments of Chemical Engineering; Civil, Environmental and Construction Engineering; Computer Science; Electrical & Computer Engineering; Industrial, Manufacturing and Systems Engineering; Mechanical Engineering; and Petroleum Engineering. All BS programs and the Environmental Engineering Master’s program are ABET accredited. All departments have Master’s and PhD programs. In 2024, the college had approximately $23 million in federal research expenditures, contributing to a total research expenditure of $49 million in the college.

• Have a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science or closely related fields;
• Be able to teach undergraduate and graduate core and elective courses in Computer Science;
• Have a track record of research excellence in areas of robotics, or artificial intelligence, or quantum computing as demonstrated by publications in top venues in Computer Science and potential for obtaining competitive, external research funding;
• Be able to take service duties for the department, college, and university as needed. Service duties may include program-building, as well as commitment to extra-curricular activities.
