Developer I, Custom Programming bei McLeod Software

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

• Works within specifications provided to meet programming assignment goals and objectives in a timely and accurate manner.
• Maintains integrity of program logic and coding and establishes required checks and balances for operational controls.
• Troubleshoot and participate in solving customer business challenges through software enhancements and changes
• Analyze customer modifications and determine programming changes needed to provide a solution
• Provide training to customers and internal peer groups
• Solve complex problems, work in a fast growing and creative company, work on multiple projects with varying deadlines, serve customers and invent workable solutions
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of computer operating procedures and operating standards.
• Assists in studying and analyzing data processing functions, methods and procedures and makes recommendations concerning the feasibility of revising existing programs or adapting new applications to data processing operations that will more effectively utilize department resources.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Competencies:

• CS, IS or Engineering degree, at least one (1) year of Java programming experience
• Working knowledge of Web Services, XML, and Linux preferred
• Successful background on Java project teams
• Knowledge and expertise with Java, Relational Database and SQL (SCJP or OCPJP preferred)
• Demonstrated success delivering small, medium and enterprise scale solutions
• Good Interpersonal Skills
• Ability to work with limited supervision
• Ability to think logically for interpreting and analyzing problems assigned or encountered
• Clear, effective verbal and written communication skills
• Resourcefulness and ability to take the initiative in development and completion of work projects.
• Good time management skills.
• Sits for extended periods of time.
• Meets expectations for attendance and punctuality
• Works overtime as required.

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field of study required. 

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software and working knowledge of Web Services, XML, and Linux preferred.  Knowledge and expertise with Java, Relational Database and SQL (SCJP or OCPJP preferred).
