Nature of Work: This position will act as the Recreation Supervisor in their absence with
responsibilities for all staff, operation of the facility, safety and risk management. In addition,
this position will take the lead in assisting the Recreation Supervisor in the administration,
management, and operation of recreation facilities. Under the supervision of the Recreation
Supervisor, takes the lead in planning, organizing and coordinating projects and facility
operations to provide staff resources and equipment support needed on a day to day basis.
This position is responsible for taking the lead in the one or more of the following areas: staff
supervision/training, facility maintenance and upkeep, customer service including cash
handling, program management and marketing, operational evaluation and improvements,
and departmental support and leadership.
Responsibilities include making cash-outs, handling deposits, inventory control, answering
citizen complaints, and supervision of employees. Assists the Recreation Supervisor in the
creation and implementation of policies and procedures. Directs and is responsible for major
facility programs and operations. Handles work that extends beyond the scope of the actual
facility such as work with vendors, budget oversight, billing, and project administration. Takes
a lead role in defining facility priorities and coordinating with city staff and available resources
to implement facility improvements. Takes the lead in overseeing and tracking concession
and equipment inventory and orders and repairs when needed. Takes the lead in overseeing
training, providing direction, and oversees seasonal staff. Monitors and leads in decision
making for risk management of the operation of the facility and safety of the customers.
Works alongside seasonal staff, indoors and outdoors, to demonstrate, share knowledge and
otherwise support facility operations. Purchases, transports and otherwise manages a variety
of daily job duties. Maintains a computerized management record of staff hours, schedule
and availability that is required for facility management. Produces written program and facility
materials including preparing and posting signage and social media for posting up to date
facility information. Provide excellent customer service and are knowledgeable, friendly and
fun. Performs other duties related to Parks and Recreation programs and facilities as
assigned.
Required Qualifications:
• A minimum of three years of work experience in recreation facility management and
supervisory experience.
• Experience with cash handling, staff management, and policy and procedure
implementation.
• Must obtain CPR/AED and First Aid certification within 30 days of employment. The
City offers CPR/AED and First Aid classes, which are free to Parks employees.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Background and/or training which relates specifically to the facility operation.
